My Experience With Europepens.com

From a post by mhguda to one of my post got a link to www.Europepens.com . Just browsed the site though it is Spanish looking at Inxcroms. Saw a Sheaffer, grabbed it. But shipping was more than pen's cost. Then a Parker Insignia added. Again 20 Euros for shipping? Should I add something else. Waterman Hemisphere in black lacquer and Palladium cap added. OK, now shipping is distributed among three pens.

Waited for them to open today after weekend. Was about 12:15 pm here in UAE. Got the first email from these guys with a sorry that my choice of Waterman was not available. I could choose any other Waterman though may be costlier than the one I chose!! Exchanged a couple of emails about my second choice with instant replies. While I was making my final choice got an email they found the original choice and were shipping in 15 minutes from the email i got (10GMT).

now waiting for my pens to arrive.

The first impression is good now the rest is with the postal service!!

Glad it worked out for you. Funny that in the end though you went looking for Inoxcroms you ended up with anything but...

Well such is online shopping. I got only Inoxcroms from them and while they're very different from my original Inoxcroms, I do like the new pens a lot, and since one of my old ones was only a cheap school pen (though a fabulous writer I still occasionally use) I'm not sorry with the new, much fancier pens. In particular, the nibs are as I remember, very smooth, and the feeds easily keep up with the flow of ink. I too am happy with their service and products.

  • 4 weeks later...

Finally got the packet today from the post office. Curiously Spain Post Correos do not offer express mail to UAE so it took the Registered Airmail route. I was peeved off by the fact that there was no tracking from Correos. It just said 'accepted' and nothing more when I tried the tracking service. When I had sent a registered letter to India from UAE it was tracked by Emirates Post from Abu Dhabi to Dubai to India and up to the delivery. i was expecting the same from Correos - poor service. It took 23 days from sending to reach me!!!

It landed in Dubai that is the postal hub for UAE yesterday and reached Abu Dhabi today and evening in my hand, every movement tracked.

A neat brown paper wrapped box

That completes my current purchase.

The response from Europepens was good barring their website that needs Google translate to read through details of pens you choose. Corroes without proper tracking was a disappointment though.

At least you got it in a reasonable time. Last month I waited for a package of ink samples from Las Vegas in the USA, sent with tracking, for more than 6 weeks. At about 5 weeks it disappeared from the tracking radar somewhere in Canada. The entry just said the package is en route to its destination. Ha! the destination was almost 180 degrees off in direction and who knows how many miles? Then there was no more news for some weeks. Then one day, a notification from the post office popped into my mailbox. Close to 7 weeks after it left Las Vegas...

I notice that after all that searching, you didn't get the Inoxcroms?

I was looking at Inoxcroms when I saw that Sheaffer. Then that Parker of 90s and lastly the Waterman. When the bill touched 100 euros I stopped picking. I should have put in a couple of Inoxcroms too. now I regret.

These three look great and write also well. Parker is very smooth despite being Fine. Others are smooth but a little feedback being F nibs.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
