I no longer have a 200 so if someone can chip in.

The list is for all to add to. If and when you do, copy and paste my list into your post and add to it. That way we can still see them all together.

I love how experienced (with Waterman) and active you are, Force. I really appreciate how you share your knowledge and experience with everybody. While I haven't been here for long, I already feel you're the gem of the Waterman section.

But after all, 150 Phileas Pens, a couple thousand 52s, thirteen Edsons and 25 Exclusive sections will give you some experience!

Thanks for being here!

Thanks, Force.

You mentioned these weights are including converter. Is that empty or filled?

And perhaps you could make a table out of this, with also room for other measurements, like length capped/uncapped/posted and width?

That would make this topic one to pin to the top!

The converters are empty.

That sounds a very good idea and to be the author of a pinned topic :bunny01: ....I will set about it now. Would you be able to change the title to Waterman Weights and Measures.

ohhh, I was taking the weights to the nearest gram i.e. up to 0.5 take the lowest, over, take the highest.

I still think the last post (with data) should contain ALL the model pen data otherwise one has to troll through looking for a specific pen. It's OK at the moment with one page but when it gets to multiple pages it could be a pain.

What are your thought on this D.ick.

Once it gets too big we'll make a new topic with all the compiled data in the top post. I'll ask you to supply a blanc post then so you can have the honours.

And I think Sepasaccus was waiting for you to make that table.

Then his list can be encapsulated there.

And as it is I am happy with all data.

It would be my wish to ultimately also add small pics of the sections and pen for easy determination. However I have not yet a clear idea of how to do that. Perhaps a big list of the pens and measurements, with a link to separate posts about each model. But perhaps that should be in the pen-reviews section and not here. It will have to ferment in my brain for a while. May take some time. (whisky needs at least 3 yrs, and good whisky much linger... :D )

We must appreciate there may be differences in weights and measures more so on earlier pens which may have additional hardware (cap and barrel rings) and possible worn threads and barrel diameters.

Excellent reference info.....

One measurement missing that would be very helpful to me is the barrel diameter. If that can be added it would be great!

Thanks,

We must appreciate there may be differences in weights and measures more so on earlier pens which may have additional hardware (cap and barrel rings) and possible worn threads and barrel diameters.

I'm wondering why the weights of these pens is important. I can see why the length and diameter are but why also the weight? Just curious. Thanks

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
