Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I have Montblanc Pink, and the sheen is wonderful. I also have some other lovely pinks:

Caran d'Ache Colours of the Earth Sunset or Chromatics Divine Pink, and Pelikan Edelstein Turmaline

Cheers Amberlea; I now know I don't need Montblanc's Pink, lovely as it is, so will thus move it further down the priority ranking.

Two questions, do you know if the Frantic Flamingo, apparently a 'dipping ink', is safe in fountain pens, and have you tried Monteverde's pink (it looks gorgeous!)?

Frantic Flamingo is water resistant and FP safe. I haven't tried Monteverde Pink.

Monteverde Pink is a very light almost pastel pink. I do like the sample I have and wouldn't mind owning a bottle, but it just isn't that high on my list for some reason. You really need a wet pen with a broad nib to take full advantage of Monteverde Pink. I used it in an Ahab with a Goulet 1.5 stub.

From my observations, Monteverde Pink is more in the middle light pink; J Herbin Rose Tendresse has a blue-violet undertone and is a bit more neon; J Herbin Bouquet D'Antan is more subdued and has a slight grayish undertone to it. De Atramentis Heather Violet is also more on the pinkish-purple side but seems warmer and less neon than Rose Tendresse. Also to note, Sailor Jentle Peche is much more peachy in real life and not so purple as it appears in the scan.

All of these pink ink comparisons I did with a glass dip pen on Rhodia.

I hope this is helpful! :)

My pleasure! :)

I need to do an updated comparisons of pinks and purples, this one seems old to me....at least a year or more. I think if I do a new one it will be on Tomoe River. Just have to get through the busy holiday season first! lol ;)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
