Filled it out and sent it in. The big failing of the survey is that it only lets me choose one kind of nib for what I use. :)

I received mine a few weeks ago and love it! I saw in one of the emails from Art that some people have "hacked" their cover to have an elastic closure similar to the Midori. I didn't want to put a hole in mine so I tried something a little different. Having 2 small girls pretty much guarantees I'll find a small elastic hair tie around at some point. Turns out it is the perfect size to hold it closed. Obviously it would be a hassle to take on and off every time I want to write in the book, so I attached it to the string closure and bead already on the cover! Turns out it also hold my Pilot Prera in place quite well too. Here are some pictures to show my makeshift closure.

Loop the hair tie around the bead

Wrap around the journal

Also holds a Pilot (Namiki) Prera perfectly

I hope this helps, but I'm sure someone else has figured this out already!

Wow, I thought of using an elastic but for the life of me didn't think about using the string enclosure as the way to hold the elsastic!

I just did it using one of the Midori Passport band refill things and it works great, Good stuff

Those who hurt me were not only someone else,

but also those who pretended not to notice. It was my friend.

Couldn't resist, ordered!

We lack this type of leather in South Africa, as all our stuff is exported and nothing is left for us!

Reminds me of the glorious Horween Chromexel that you all have State side

Excellent service. Let's hope the people at customs don't give me a hard time :)

  • 1 month later...

Been over a month and I am still waiting :(

Received a postcard from a ministry in the States that was sent a week after, a week ago. So I am not too sure as to what the hold up is.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
