Haha, sorry. You replied while I was editing my unfinished post.

My "auld" fingers pressed the post button by mistake.

1. The Jinhao 500 - the best-balanced Chinese pen I've encountered

2. Baoer 388 - in stainless, a sturdy, handsome, great carry pen

3. Hero 616 - low risk time travel, reliable fine point

You'd probably be better just hi-jacking this thread if you've set your mind on a Chinese pen

The Chinese pen fans tend to get involved more on this regional forum, than on the main forum for a number of reasons.

I didn't think I was looking specifically for a Chinese pen, but after seeing all of the recommended pens on the thread I started I might have been mistaken without knowing it.

I like the Chinese pens better than most of the others, so far at least.

You're not making my decision any easier here... -_-

Check out the reddish-brown (some listings call it "coffee") and black swirl version. You can even get away with posting it, although I wouldn't use it that way for extended periods. I like everything about this pen, except the overly-stiff clip, but even that shortcoming means I'm less likely to lose it!

Yip, agreed.

I got the coffee one about 2/3 weeks ago, and I've used it at some point every day since.

Another excellent pen.

I didn't want to for fear of looking silly, but all I could find was moo goo gai pan, which I'd never heard of and is a chicken and mushroom stir fry.

I suppose if it was combined with pasta it could be a moo goo gai penne.

I'll get my coat....hahaha

It's not a bad writer, but a half hour later, you have to ink it again.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
