I just got a gold band version for 72 bucks (plus five dollar shipping) off of the 'Bay. Did I pay too much? It's not restored at ALL and the cap has a crack, but I guess it's in okay condition :/ I'm just bummed a little it couldn't have gone for cheaper but at least I finally own a 52 to complete with my 52v.

 

ETA: Sorry if I'm derailing your thread, OP. You can find them usually on Ebay. The only thing is at the moment, most of the listings show 52's in Spain. The site that one of the posters above linked looks like a good site for UK people. If you're open to ordering from a place in the US, I see one for sale on a popular pen vendor here as well. Let me know and I'll pm you the link.

I would point the op to one for sale but as it appears to be a one off post 2 weeks ago with no further viewings I doubt they will read it.

I too keep one eye out but the prices are high. I suspect though the pens are in excellent shape.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
