Noodler's Fpn Van Gogh Starry Night

A few quick notes:

- The picture is taken with a very poor phone camera. In order to view the review in more detail please feel free to open the Pdf. file.

- Upon further inspection I do not think that the dry time is that long with this ink. Instead, it is simply prone to smearing for a time after it is laid down on the page. It is quite similar to Noodler's Black in that sense.

- Sorry for the poor penmanship. If you cannot read my writing let me know and I will post a typed copy of what I have written.

- This is my first ink review. I am hoping to do many more and would appreciate any feedback members might have. It is my hope that these reviews can be useful and I would like to make them as helpful as possible. Thanks for looking and I hope you enjoy the review.

Your penmanship is terrific! Thank you for sharing.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Hey there! Great review.

Here is my feedback: Have you considered using a direct light source for your camera, if a scanner isn't available to you? I find it helps for ink color and clarity. I have trouble distinguishing the color of the beautiful dark blue writing you've done.

Photo rules of thumb: not too dark, not too bright (but must have good light. It shouldn't be blown out). And clarity on the thing you are photographing. So, writing should be pretty crisp when photographed. You have the photo oriented alright, which is good! And your penmanship is beautiful. :)

Looking for Japanese and French language pen pals!

Thanks for the feedback. I am planning on purchasing an actual camera to take the shots and will certainly try to use a direct light source to get a bit more clarity on the ink. I think it is worth noting that, in this case, I have trouble distinguishing the color of dark blue from black with the paper right in front of me. You might want to download the scanned version, I think the clarity of color is a bit better represented there. This ink is very nearly black, so much so that it really needs a dry pen to come off as blue-black. The Parker Frontier is the driest pen I used in the writing sample (~4/10 wetness) and it is still a bit difficult to tell what color is on the page. I think the next step will be to dilute the ink a bit to see if I can bring the blue and green hues to the surface. If I have success I will post some shots here.

Thanks to all for the compliments on my handwriting. I began writing in cursive about a year ago and am constantly trying to improve my penmanship. It has been a fun albeit sometimes frustrating journey. I am hoping one day it might look as nice as some of our distinguished members. Your support is much appreciated and will keep me practicing!!

That's only one year of practice? I'm impressed.

If my penmanship were that poor, I would be in fantastic shape! Mine looks like a 4 year old wrote it with a pair of mittens on.

Thanks for this, especially pdf link. 3 bottles of this, plus 2 of Cult's Deep Dark Blue from Classifieds on way to me this week. Looking forward to comparing these to Denim, my current dark blue / somewhat blue-black.

I hope you'll be impressed. Though I found this ink a bit dark, it does flow very well and the water resistance is very impressive.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
