Smashing! Thanks. Think I'll get a converter for more choice of ink.

Can't wait to see the pens. I got confirmation of order today. I'm getting 'desist & anchor', 'beckoning, pink' and 'strawberry milk'. LOL

I like the sound of Desist & Anchor

I was once a bottle of ink, Inky Dinky Thinky Inky, Blacky Minky Bottle of Ink!

Just what the world needs: a Parker Urban that's been "bedazzled". I'll pass, thanks.

It wasn't a bad looking color pink, otherwise.... Of course it's *still* an Urban, so there's really no hope. :glare:

I just received this note from a reader in Germany who requested that I post his/her views on "cute"

"Cute" kann, wo Sie von Ihrem Alter sind und abhängen. Ich habe eine Sammlung von Hummel Stifte mit den süßen kleinen vorpubertären Jungen und Mädchen, die Erwachsenenaktivitäten. Aber mein Favorit "cute" Stift (Ich nehme an, niedlich ist "cute") ist mein Fett Hermann Stift mit Hermann in einem sehr niedlich Flugzeug.

I think the observations speak for themselves.

The Platinum and Sailor Hello Kitty SE pens were, sadly, a one-off Sanrio licensing thingie that may or may not be coming back given the massive backlash against Kawaii culture that is now building up steam in Japan.

At this point, the only people with remaining stocks that are readibly accessible by non-Japanese, at least for the Preppy Hello Kitties, that I've seen are the Japanese stationary company Penroom. There maybe be a few others, and if you don't really care about quality and authenticity, I've seen a fair number of chinese fakes on eBay.

I have greatly enjoyed this thread, although my taste in pens and women has up to now been more austere than all this with Hello Kitty. (I am currently writing with an Aurora Hastil in stainless steel and, I concede, a Parker 51 Demi that is feline in its own way.)

More, more. Granted, the OP would consider me a doddering ancient. Still, it may be time to walk away from "I like Radcliffe girls," a dated reference, and consider some less-than-serious froufrou. There is also plenty of serious froufrou, but I am thinking of froufrou with a wink.

Ooooh I really like the Hello Kitty pen. My 10 yr old would love it too!
I'll have to look into the Sailor Clear Candy too. Getting great ideas for my daughter's next fountain pen. :)

Komomono Honpo just shipped my order. I shouldn't say anything until it gets here, but $49 incl s+h for two fricken adorable CCs, a bottle of Sailor Jentle Ink, and a bottle of Iroshizuku?! If everything comes in safely and on time, I'll swear by this store for the rest of my fountain pen life.

In absolute fairness, I also like the more serious aesthetic of some old fountain pens - they are a bit too expensive for me at this exact moment, however. Perhaps when I am older and more importantly, with a stable income, I'll be able to afford such elegantly built pens. Of course there are always happy middles, like the Nakaya blue sapphire cat!

It's not "Snotty Radcliffe b*tch"? ;)

That may also be a dated reference at this point....

Today, Gizumi wrote of the german quote that i hadn't bothered to translate. My Bad!

Unfortunately I had to run this through Google Translate to read their comment, but I do agree! I'd love to see what their favorite cute pens look like! ... from Gizumi.

Here is a quick translation for the gist of my friend's note:

"Cute" is where you are on your age and country. I have a collection of Hummel pens with the sweet little prepubescent boys and girls conducting adult activities. But my favorite "cute" pen (I assume that cute is "niedlich") is my fat Hermann pen with a very cute plane.

Following on Gizumi's request for pictures, I asked ny friend for some shots. The reply said in effect that there would be problems with the subject matter but he/she would attempt to convey the spirit of the pens, if not the reality.

My attempt to convey the gist:

A boy and girl figure are juxtaposed in such a way that when the pen is posted the figures are amalgamated,

I hope I have caught the example of "cute" that my friend intends.

Danke,

Not snotty to me. Then again, there is a little publication in jest that awarded the Marlborough Gallery the prize for most forbidding gallery atmosphere, and I can say in all honesty that I liked Marlborough girls, too. Which may help to explain some pleasant experiences during golden days gone by.

I like the sound of Desist & Anchor

I got my three Clear Candies and inked up 'Desist and Anchor'. I think it's called that because as well as the anchor motif, it has the Sailor trademark prominently displayed as part of the design. The other two don't have the trademark front and center in the same way.

Anyway, I love it! It's a really nice little writer. Fine nib, with some feedback, but not at all scratchy or unpleasant.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
