Decoband Lever - Need Replace

Firerunner

Recommended Posts

hi

I just bought my first Decoband. I suppose is from the 1st serie (anybody could confirm?) with personal point and i really like it very much. Unfortunately the lever system is damaged and i tryed to find a spare part to replace it. I don't think it is possible to repaire it (see pictures)

Till now I was not able to find a new lever anywhere.

Does anywhone knows where I can buy a new lever that fits?

Any help would be abbreciated.

ps I hope to post in the right place

The lever can be repaired. A new tab can be soldered on -- I've done this myself.

Your pen also appears to have had its cap lip trimmed, and the nib is not correct. The proper nib is much larger, with the Gold Seal imprint.

I'm not sure what you mean by "first series". There's not really much change in the Deco Band during its production run, the main change being the clip -- the earliest pens having a shorter clip with just "WAHL" without the "EVERSHARP".

Smaller nibs were used in the Decobands with a hole drilled into the gold seal (signifying voided warranty) found on discontinued pens. All evidence of the "Gold Seal" (Lifetime Guarantee) were expunged from the pens when the seal was drilled, including not using gold seal nibs. The photo of the pen does not afford a good view of the gold seal, so I can not tell if it has one or not.

here some detail of the cap and the Gold Seal. If you need additional details please let me know. The pen has a personal point nib #3. can you post an original nib of a Decoband?

There is a color light difference between the body and the cap. could it be that the cap is not the original one?

any information will be appreciated.

I grabbed the photo of the top of the pen, took it into photoshop and lightened it and enlarged it a bit. It looks like the seal has been drilled.

The nib is a No. 3 Wahl from before the Gold Seal period. If it is in a Personal Point unit it is because someone pulled the correct nib and replaced it. For a Deco Band with a drilled Gold Seal, the correct nib is a warranted nib with a heart shaped breather hole, not a Wahl nib.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
