Maybe it was discussed before, but I couldn't find it.

Could you recommend me letter set (envelope and paper). I Google it, but most letter sets are for children, more suitable one does not have enough information about paper quality.

What I am looking for is more "classic" set. Envelope should not be too big (9 x 13 cm would be ideal). Paper should be smooth and suitable for writing with fountain or dip pen.

Thank you!

Mappamundi here in the Uk have a fair range, they stock Original Crown Mill but it's an expensive way to buy stationery...unless it's a gift of course. The pad and envelopes can be bought separately for around £10 rather than over twice that for a set.

You might check out Saskia Manning's stationery offerings.

She's recently added sets that might appeal more to men.

I also like to use the smaller Clairfontaine Triomph paper (comes blank and lined) and matching envelopes.

Thank you very much for your replies!  :thumbup:

@Stanley Howler

Crown Mill Silver Line A5 Olive Writing Set is perfect, only price is a problem. 23.95 GBP + shipping for 25 letters... I could buy one box for special occasion.

@stonezebra

Etsy have great sets, but I need something more classic. I found Clairefontaine Triomphe paper and it looks great.

Yes, much better to buy the paper and envelopes separately if you are going to be using them yourself. Look out for:

  • G.Lalo Verge de France
  • G.Lalo Velin de France
  • Original Crown Mill Laid or Vellum
  • Clairefontane Triomphe

All are superb for fountain pen usage. The Clairefontane is exceptionally good value as the A5 pads are only £2.00 or so and it is very smooth and pleasant to write on with a fountain pen. For off-white, ivory coloured sheets Original Crown Mill and G.Lalo pads are great and very luxurious.

Yesterday I looked in paperchase on an errand in London and found they have a decent range, including parchment paper for £3.50 and matching envelopes for £4.75. Their writing sets are also quite tempting sitting at the £6-10 mark.
