The pen I’m about to review to review always amazed me by the looks. It has been reviewed by Hari here on FPN ) So following is my review of the pen with my inputs and writing samples and close up images.

DESIGN :
One of the most beautifully designed pen I’ve come across. Very slim profile pen. Easily fits in the pocket. Long cap rounded at top with gold plated clip which really complements the pen color. Made of ebonite, comes in 5 colors shiny black, matte black, green rippled, brown rippled, and light brown rippled.

This pen comes with stock gold plated nib which again complements the design. I believe brown and gold color really go along very well.

The pen cap opens with 5 turns just like many Indian ebonite pens.
The clip is bit flexible and as mentioned earlier is good plated with no inscriptions, looks wonderful.
The top of the cap is rounded and the bottom of the barrel of pen tapers down to sharp narrow rounded profile.

The pen size is comparable to Pilot Metropolitan in length but in thickness this pen is of slim profile. Below are the images of pen compared to metropolitan and Gama Kuyil.

I would say I love the design of the pen.

I have two Airborne - same colour. Very agreable in hand.

 

I use them to draw.

They have an Oliver #5 nib, fine. There is a little scratchiness on them, but oddly enough, it is not at all diseagreable.

I love my Airborne - if I had known before that they were going out of production, I would have bought one of each colour.

Is there any chance that Gama will bring this model back if we ask?

As in when i am writing i blv u can drop a email to ASA Pens for airborne... they seem to have resumed production....

Yeah that is the only issue... though i bought spare clips also....

I have an Airborne as well, and I have to say it's a favorite. Objectively it is nothing special, and it is an obvious copy of the vintage Skyline in many ways (except for the Skyline's expensive over-the-top clip design). But it all adds up to a very enjoyable pen.

I have contacted Asapens and they say there are several versions in production! My next problem is that I will want to put a cursive italic nib on it. This is probably going to mean grinding the Schmidt nibs they currently use, or asking for a customised Airborne to fit a Jowo nib which will also need grinding. Might push the price up too high. Not sure yet. I do like the Skyline look. I have a Skyline but I am reluctant to use it as a daily writer. The Airborne seems like a perfect stand-in.

 

And, if I haven't said it already, great review mehandiratta!

I am sure they will figure something out... after what you wrote above am also contemplating on getting the airborne with Italic nib

Actually these are bock nibs.. Made for conklin... That's y you can see conklin imprinted on these...

I blv gama doesn't use these... This was modded by ASA Pens for me

I am currently trying to sell my last Eversharp Skyline. It's a beautiful pen but for some reason its sheer age tends to put me off having it as a regular user. These Gama Airborne pens on the other hand would seem to fill that gap, being both new and of a similar style... and comparatively cheap, which would assuage any guilt I may have about carrying an expensive vintage pen.

SS nib cost Rs. 400 or 450 extra...

 

Aparently they still haven't resumed production yet. Status of the pen is still "out of stock" :( .

Its only on request... you will have to email them....

 

I am currently trying to sell my last Eversharp Skyline. It's a beautiful pen but for some reason its sheer age tends to put me off having it as a regular user.       I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning.
