Carl Fisher - F3 Pens

Recommended Posts

I love working with inspiration pieces. If you have a concept in mind, I'll be happy to work with you to make it reality.

This pen was created by request from a customer who wanted a Duofold look pen with slightly larger dimensions. The hand mixed color is a close approximation of the original material while black ebonite forms the front grip section and finials. Twin bands finish off the cap.

This is one of my larger overall pens to date, yet it's extremely comfortable to hold. 14mm threads hold the cap when closed and a solid friction fit holds it when posted. Topped with a JoWo #6 1.1 stub in two tone.

Length Capped: 137.2 mm
Length Uncapped: 129.7 mm
Length Posted: 171.9 mm
Body Diameter: 14.4 mm
Cap Diameter: 16.8 mm
Material: Alumilite / Ebonite
Filler: Converter / Cartridge

Oooh. I love this. And while I love my Duofolds I've always wished they were a bit wider. You may be getting another custom order soon.

My pens are typically designed to accept any of the JoWo nibs. This particular one was requested with a 1.1 stub but nibs are typically available in EF, F, M, B, 1.1, 1.5 and as always custom grinds are available for a premium.

Are there any limits on the materials you can, or prefer, to use? For example, could you make a metal-barreled pen?

Any non-ferrous metals are easy enough such as aluminum, brass and copper. I can work certain grades of stainless as well. I'll be 100% honest though that working full metal pens is not my preference, but that doesn't mean that I can't do them.

Beyond that most plastics and hardwoods are in play.

Sneak peek at another work in progress.

I love how you photographed that one with the pen on all the shavings! Beautiful work.

Lovely pen. Can I get a price on the top pen? (Big Red)

Best,

Anyone like Ray Bradbury? Please read "The Laurel and Hardy Love Affair" if you have about 12 minutes.

You will not forget this wonderful gem that is largely obscure and sadly, forgotten. http://bit.ly/1DZtL4g

The base pen starts at $175 with no accents. Add $15 for each accent band without a plating (yellow brass) or $30 for each accent band plated (gold or nickel). It's up to you on the number, thickness and placement of the bands.

Everything else is included unless you want something other than the base nib offerings at which point we can discuss customizing.

The only thing that is different is that I can't seem to find a source for those tear drop clips anymore in the size I need for these pens. As you can see on the yellow pen, I had to switch the clip design for now.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
