Any of you guys using these? How are they? Does it stay pretty flat (especially when you are at the very beginning/end of the book) ?

How about the paper?

Franklin-Christophe is located in NC. Here is a direct link to their site in order for you to judge the quality from their end for yourself, until someone else replies from their perspective and experience:

I have been using them for more than a year. One word - AMAZING!

They do lie flat, even at the beginning and end.

The paper is excellent. They redesigned them a little last year. Each ruling is a different color. But the paper itself is very FP friendly. I can write on one side with a very wet pen and wet ink and you can't see anything on the other side of the page.

I ordered two sets of these journals in this drop because I have a leather cover made specifically for them and I want to make sure I have some around.

Everything about your response is so wrong!!! I shared this drop, one for mixing inks, and one for J. Herbin wax seal bundle. My idea is to pass them along before I am tempted to partake in the drops. I am using a 30 step program, don't ask, I have yet to begin the steps to not get off track in accoutrements of this passion. I had been looking at these from the Franklin-Christophe site before this drop ever occurred. It does not help I am located in NC either where Franklin-Christophe is in business. Now, given the price of these journals, in this Massdrop, as someone posted in the Massdrop discussion, $14.50 and shipping of $5.00 for one, if ordered directly from F-C, this is a deal. I don't need a deal! Just thought I would share this before moving on, unsubscribing. In case you want to know, it is your fault! :lticaptd:

I will happily take the blame because once you take advantage of the good deal, you will be so happy with the journals that you will forget all else.

Stop responding so quickly so a lady can leave with her dignity, hat tipped just right and not partaking of a good deal! :lticaptd: :lticaptd:

I will never forgive you and I don't even know you! I am in on the drop for one trio. If nothing else, my grandson likes lines and I want him to start to keep a journal so this is a perfect way to continue his graduation present. He just graduated from high school. Could not take the thought any longer of missing out on this drop of these journals. It is still ALL your fault!! :D

Forgot to share this most recent encounter, my grandson is 16 years old. I just told him I write with a fountain pen exclusively. He said, "what is a fountain pen?" I laughed. Asked him whether he knew what a typewriter was and he said, he used one once but it did not do what he wanted it to do. What is a fountain pen? I am going to leave this right here. :lticaptd: I am overwhelmed with the prospect of the introduction to him. Not to mention he is going to be heir to all my fountain pens, inks, etc.

lowest price has been reached

laughing as I respond to you, I know, I was number 30. Kind of really cool to have posted it early when there was no one participating in the drop to now it having made it for the lowest price. Now, if I could only have remained one of those innocent bystanders who just posted the drop and moved on. Oh no! Not me! Well, at least I get to see what they are all about and giving one away so who can not use another journal, bottle of ink or pen case? I know, I have two pen cases on the way. :lticaptd:

Since the lowest price was met, it's almost like buy 2, get 1 free. :)

Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Still not forgiven. Stop rubbing it in. Enjoy your day. :D

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
