just got my Model 14 in red. they're supposed to be out of production but apparently FC still has some in stock, so i quickly bought 1! i got both EF and F nib and i'm using the EF nib. i'm using a new ink in it, so i have no idea whose fault is it ( the ink or the nib) but THIS IS THE SMOOTHEST EF NIB I'VE EVER USED!! after trying a number of EF nibs, i'm resigned to the fact that all EF nibs are scratchy and toothy to a certain extent, and i'll be happy if the nib can lay down an unbroken line. but the model 14 proved me wrong. This is one of the smoothest nib ( not just among the EF nibs) i've used. it's not buttery smooth, but the friction present is just nice such that i actually prefer this pen to my other buttery smooth pen. The magnet in the cap/body enables me to click shut the pen with only 1 hand. the only grief i have with it is that it's heavier than i had imagine and i can't use it posted ( although i'm a non poster) as it throws my balance off.

 

once again, good job FC! you've renewed my faith in EF nibs.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
