Eversharp "skyline", Needing Cap

Recommended Posts

Today I found a very decent "skyline" in a local shop sans the cap.

Based upon my research I feel the color is "marine green"..which I hope is the very deep, dark color I am seeing.

Can anyone direct me to where I might locate a cap, please?

Buy a pen on eBay with a mangled nib or broken barrel and harvest the cap.

Good idea...new information has surfaced that ever sharp made at least three sizes of the skyline. I'm trying to figure out which model I have.

Nib to barrel end is 5"...any ideas?

I'm in the same boat. I believe the green ones are also a little more difficult to find. I actually have a complete pen, but the derby has corroded inside the cap, and it's really not serving any useful purpose.

In my somewhat limited experience, Marine Green is one of the more difficult basic colors to come by, especially Derbys. 5 inches in length rules out the Demi size for sure. So you are looking at a Standard or Executive size cap. It is going to be easier to find the cap than the derby. Nearly any of the striated caps look good on the Marine Green and the Gold filled is very sharp as well. But the derby is gonna make the search even more difficult. From time to time there is a seller on Ebay that lists derbys for sale, 8 USD for a single derby. I have never looked into that as I find that price to be rather steep and I have a lot of extra derbys, though not a single green one at this time. Scouring Ebay may be your best option, or posting a WTB ad in the classifieds. If I run across one I will let you know.

Regards,

Paul

Why not buy a gold cap and eliminate the hassle of matching colors?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
