Desiderata Pen Company…Restocked!

Good Day!

The webstore reopens on Monday, March 16th at 11am Central Time.

www.DesiderataPens.com

Delrin Daedalus will be there. They are in stock, ready to ship. They are all eyedropper-convertible, post securely, have redesigned, smoother sections, better finishes, and they uncap 3 times faster now.

Ebonite Daedalus are back! (In Blue/Black ripple, Green Ripple, Yellow Ripple and Brown Ripple)
But not for good! Once my inventory of them sells out, that's it. You may see ebonite again, but I can't guarantee it.

Also…No more preordering.
Ever.
If you see something you like, you can get it immediately. No more waiting.

If you see a color you like, or you want to request a certain material, let me know, and if enough people say the same thing, I'll factor it into decision making.

Other:
•Nibs and ink sacs are back in stock.
•Chrome plated Zebra Gs are 20% off!
•The FAQ page has been reformatted to be easier to navigate and more questions answered.
•New reviews have been posted on the Review page.
•I'm still working on process for the wooden pens. I haven't forgotten them, and I look forward to making more wooden pens soon. No E.T.A., but when I have more information, you will be notified.

Let me know your thoughts and comments either through email, or the usual social media. I'm happy to hear them, and as usual, I'll respond as soon as I can.

Pierre

Awesome!

In an amazing coincidence....I just created a blog post about the L.A. Pen Show I attended last month here

http://www.vancouverpenclub.com/2015/03/los-angeles-pen-show-report-part-2-new.html

and mentioned (near the end of that post) trying one of your flexy-nibbed fountain pens at the FPN sushi dinner :o

Well done, Pierre!

Well the good thing is that you are not stuck with inventory on the shelf.

It is a very difficult balance between making enough product to sell and fill the demand, and not having unsold inventory sitting on the shelf for months/years (which reduces into your profit). And there is no crystal ball to tell you how much product to make. And how much to keep in selling inventory, and how long will it take to sell that inventory?

Batch prediction is difficult. You can make and sell 4 batches of 50 pens. Doing good. :) But on the 5th batch you only sell 10 pens, now you have 40 pens sitting on the shelf unsold and tying up money. Not good. :(

I don't know how it happened but the first time I checked the site on Monday, the making more pens sign was up, the next time I refreshed it in the evening I was greeted with the same sign. Then I saw this topic. Sigh, gotta wait again for a long time to see if I can get one next time...

I am :) Also, you are the only person apart from me who uses composer names as sample writing stuff :D

I am also on the list, but because of the time differences when the new stock went live it was at some ungodly hour where I live. By the time I got to a computer - at a more reasonable time I will say - they had all gone.

C'est la vie.

  • 2 weeks later...

I've been wanting these pens since February but it seems I'll have to do more waiting as well :(

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
