I have a set inbound.

Since I don't have them yet, I wondered if the brown is textured and the white and yellow smooth?

It appears that way in the photo.

Also, does the brown pen say "Brown" at the location where the other two say, "Sally" and "Cony"?

As far as I can see, the yellow and white pen are ordinary Lamys, only the brown seems to be worth collecting.

I agree, but the white and yellow pen, like the brown one have the name of the characters written on them. I guess for that reason, some people really wanna have it in their collection.

I ordered the yellow and white however I am thinking about just leaving them in the box. The clips are cute but I wouldn't use them. However for those who don't have the regular yellow and white. I think these would be better to have in your collection due to the fact that they are limited editions.

I think these special editions are just too expensive and too difficult to find. I would go with the normal yellow and white safari.

There's not enough difference between them and the normal safaris that would justify such a high price and such a big effort to get them in my eyes.

However, congratulations to everyone who managed to get one! :)

When the yellow and white arrive will you confirm please if the cap and body are standard in every way except the character clip ornament?

If the cap end is is another color, and/or shape such as a hole rather than X, and the barrel has a the character name that could make a difference.

It's been a long time since Lamy used texture, so that and the brown are interesting features.

I'm not sure about the character's character ; ) is he sad or bad or both?

Odd, wondering how a bear, bunny, and duck could be designed in any configuration that's not instantly charming.

I was looking for the Brown pen the first time it was out but no luck, then scored in round 2! The FP - what nib comes with the pen (I have a whole set from EF to 1.9 but am curious). Got a FP in brown and RB in white (my gf doesn't like chickens, so no yellow). Back to school pens for her - so hopefully shipping from Korea is fast or I am going to have to fire up the label maker and put a "my other pen is a Line X Lamy" on her Starwalker...

Hello Ameru,

Well done on getting the Lamy x Choco. I would love to get one too but haven't had any luck. Do you have a spare to trade with me or sell to me? Please send me a message if interested.

As far as the Disney one is concerned I have not seen it.

But the Taiwanese limited editions are usually available at Eslite bookstore. I have their editions from 2012 and their independent release of the red, yellow and charcoal with red clips, after the same series was released at NK in Sweden.

Happy collecting :)

I have the original Line X Safari and the two that followed and even still have a few boxed. But the Bear rev. 2 (the one that came in the tin) and these new ones have zero appeal to me. I guess I feel like Lamy got this right with the original one and the 2 follow ups of the bird and rabbit, but then just sort of went back to the well too many times.

Looking for a cap for a Sheaffer Touchdown Sentinel Deluxe Fat version

  • 2 weeks later...

I am sort of hoping to keep this as a running topic. There are a lot of unusual Safari pens out there. For example Safari pens that have logos or are specially made for an occasion or are just limited editions. This year in Korea, Lamy is making a special pen in conjunction with the company LINE.

I thought it would be good if folks posted what they have or have seen up here.

Here is the one due out next month for LINE. Which was not Green as I predicted (to match their cell phone app icon) and is nothing like what I imagined. It is seemingly aimed for folks younger than me (heh).

Well what do you know? I saw these Lamy Safaris a couple of years back, and was looking into buying one of them. Ended up not wanting to.

Thank you for sharing the utterly cute picture of the light pink Safari with the pink bear accessories from Line.

I don't know why everyone else is deprived of those very lovely pens?

Well... I understand the co-branding with Line, but, please release the brown and baby pink safari by themselves as regular or limited editions.

Time is a wastin on new Safari colors that are not neon, thanks for the Lilac and the Petrol but, we need more.

This year the Lx and Pacific Al-Star were released for the metal version, so why not 2 Safari colors?

Is it fair for an intelligent and family oriented mammal to be separated from his/her family and spend his/her life starved in a concrete jail?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
