Midori Traveler's Notebook Blue Edition

Recently I had the opportunity to hold one of them in my hands (I was actually planning to get one).

I didn`t like it enough to spend the bucks, though. As others pointed out, the blue is not the petrol blue, which could be expected from the photos, but more of a darkish, subtle blue. I prefer my brown ones (Regular & Passport size) and am not sure either if I "need" a third one.

I still might get one at some point. In the meantime I`m curious to see how it will age.

The blue looks really nice. I had a brown regular sized, but it wasn't working for me. Love seeing all the pics of everyone else's though!

I got my midori TN blue edition from Maido earlier this week - I am lucky enough to live down the street from one of their stores. I really like mine.

+1 Their mail order shop is great and they have all the accessories, too!

I agree got mine and really like the color. Was expecting to be so so on the blue but it is beautiful. Maido is awesome.

Anyone know a online store (other than eBay for $99) that has this in-stock? Thanks.

I was tempted, I really was. I bought my brown Traveler from Maido - strangely this was the best deal for me, though in the end it was sent from Japan and not the US. The blue one... tempted but no, I do not need another Traveler. Since my first I have picked up a Hobonichi Techo for appointments and such, and the free Renaissance passport sized thing. I like having different formats, materials, and trying out different makers.

As of now The Journal Shop has just 5 left, according to their site. I believe fellow FPN members in the US have used The Journal Shop even though it's in UK. worth trying.

I've not made the plunge with Midori yet and was very, very tempted by the blue but was hoping for more of a petrol blue. Think I'll probably pass on this colour way plus the price premium for this special edition put me off.

I just ordered one last night from Japan. The price with shipping from Japan was comparable to the price I'd have paid from Goulet (who I would have ordered from if they had them in stock).

I have the Star Ferry passport version. Decided to get the Pan Am notebook with the graph paper. Once I had that and liked the size, the regular brown version has been calling me. Found it for $35.99 on amazon.com which justified getting it as a birthday gift later when mine comes along. I hope those who have the blue version post some photos.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
