For Uk Members: Where Can I Buy Rubbing Alcohol?

Today I received, very quickly, some metallic Sharpies from Amazon. Many of the reviews had said that the gold one tends to be dry, and it is. But I've seen, and have just checked, youtube vids in which it has been demonstrated that with a little (rubbing) alcohol, markers of this type can be revived provided they've only dried out and still have plenty of pigment left.

 

But where, in the UK, can I purchase rubbing alcohol? If any other UK members know the answer to this, I would very much like to know.

I used to buy the stuff direct from the chemist, it's isopropyl alcohol and is great for cleaning vinyl records.

Maplins sell it in aerosol cans as a cleaning agent, but "rubbing alcohol" is basically surgical spirit, which you can buy in Boots.

"Surgical Spirits" is the same as American "rubbing alcohol" or isopropyl alcohol ?

 

This shall serve as a reminder to FPN members that use of "common" names may be insufficient.

Inclusion of the "technical" name can often enhance communication. I shall try to remember that

our daily spoken language is highly colloquial . After all, we remain separated by a common language.

 

While the question and answer are of little value to me, the discussion has added much to my insight
