Sheaffer Pink Cartridges

Recommended Posts

Can anyone show me what the ink looks like coming from the Sheaffer pink cartridges?

They look cool, but I have no idea what the ink actually looks like.

A written sample would be awesome!

Thank you! :)

I've been thinking about trying these (like I don't have enough pink ink) and you've motivated me to go ahead and order them. I'll post a writing sample and some comparisons once the cartridges arrive.

I was wondering if the carts have arrived yet? I would love to see your writing sample! ;)

They have! I'll do the comparison this weekend. I'm thinking the Sheaffer Pink carts, Levenger Pinkly (since it's discontinued), Hope Pink, Iro Kosumosu . . . I have Shell Pink and Bouquet d'Antan but those seem too pale. What do you think?

I was hoping to include the new MB pink but can't find it anywhere. :( I've got a bottles of PR Hot Bubble Gum and Rose Rage on order to add to the mix, too.

I don't have a writing sample, but wanted to chime in to say that Sheaffer Pink is one of my favorites! I recently bought a bunch of cartridges and siphoned out the ink, transferring it to a sample vial so I could use it with non-Sheaffer pens. I wish they offered it in bottles!

You're my hero today, swanjun! I'm embarrassed to admit that transferring the ink out of the cartridges hadn't occurred to me. Duh!

Woo! :) It was pretty easy, though my hand got kind of pink-speckled during the process, and I have a ton of cartridges I still need to rinse out. (I save them to reuse.)

Awesome ScienceChick! I think that'll give a really good example of pinks! You have an awesome assortment of pinks!

I wonder if you should add in one magenta pink just to show the contrast? (I do love those magenta inks! Like Cactus Fruit Eel - always a great ink!) ;)

I have Bouquet D'Anatan and love it; although I know many people would not like it for it is very light and watery; but that's precisely why I like it. Its gentleness is lovely to me; and it is perfect for painting flowers in a watercolor! ;)

If you want to add the lighter pinks just to give a frame of reference go for it. But if for time or pen cleaning reasons would rather opt them out, that's totally fine too! Do what you think is best! ;)

I haven't been able to find Mont Blanc Pink Ink either (only in the UK). I have to at least see a couple reviews on it, or preferably get a sample before buying a bottle. I am really surprised they didn't release it in times for Valentine's Day.

Hopefully it will come along in due time and we can see what it is really like. (It is listed on Mont Blanc's website as currently unavailable. I signed up for the notification for when it it becomes available.)

Swanjun - great idea about siphoning the ink out of the cartridges! Thank you for sharing! :)

I can do a magenta or two. I have my all-time favorite PE Turmaline, a sample of DA Magenta and Iro Tsutsuji. I may add in KWZI #47 AKA Super Raspberry since I already have it loaded in a pen. Might as well go pink hog wild.

I can't paint (or draw) but I think Bouquet d'Antan would be a beautiful flower. Pictures please? :)

No problem! FWIW, I also did this with Sailor Clear Candy Pink, another cute pink that's only available in proprietary Sailor cartridges.

Sailor and Sheaffer are not the only ink makers to relegate pink to a cartridge-only status. Pelikan and Waterman do this too, just off the top of my head.

The pink comparison featuring Sheaffer Pink is here. It's a nice rosy color but a bit pale out of the F stub I was using; I need to try it in a M before I decide if it's a keeper. It's a bit brighter than this picture but not much.

Thank you so much Science Chick! It does look like a pretty pink. Perhaps it would be a good candidate for stub nibs. ;)

Here is a rose I made. :)

I first sketched the rose with a pencil, then traced over the petals with Organics Studio Jane Austen in a fp. Then I used small round paint brushes dipped in J Herbin Larmes de Cassis and Bouquet D'Antan to create a watercolor effect.

I enjoyed blending the colors together and discovering the different shades blended quite naturally.

The stem is Diamine Meadow. The outline and thorns is De Atramentis Jane Austen. The leaves are a little mix of De A Jane Austen and Diamine Meadow with a bit of water.

The paper is Tomoe River.

It is a bit difficult to communicate the colors through the computer screen...but it is lovely with contrasting light, medium, and dark colors, delicate yet with a subtle richness....

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
