Nice to hear. One of these days I'll get one of my own. What pens are pictured above for the size comparison?

Thanks,

I got my Eo #9 with stub nib a couple weeks ago, and I have to agree with you. Those nibs are just astoundingly nice to write with. So far, I'm on my second fill of ink and have only run Sailor Doyou Brown through it. I'll do a formal review in another month or so after I've ran a couple different inks through it.

Great photos of great pens. I too love the nibs - pretty unique in personality and character, they seems to shift and change attributes with angle, pressure and speed.

Enjoy all your Romillos in good health.

Too many pens; too little writing.

Beautiful pen sketch and doodle. Have a bit of an update on my pen as well. Had to send it into Romillo because the iridium had what appeared to be a airbubble hole. I also asked them to grind it down to an EF. Well, in no time at all i got my pen back and oncr again it is perfect. I am happy to say romillo customer service matchs their wonderful pens.

Sblakers, I'm glad that it turned out perfect. Alvaro is the most amazing person to deal with with prompt email and with sincerity. I'm a 100% satisfied customer.

I wonder how soft their "K" nib is.

Sblaker, you triggered me to look into "Romillo in the first place and I'm glad you did. You loved your EO with "F" nib and now EF. Please let us know how it writes compare to Nakaya F.

I have a no.9 EF - chalk and cheese with Nakaya Fs. Nakayas feel like very very good modern nibs. The 'flex' nibs are soft and springy, but not traditionally flexible. The 'elastic' nibs even more so. They are sharp and precise and very very good...

The Romillo EF is a good few sizes wider. At its most narrow (close to 45 degrees) it is bit wider than a Nakaya M; at normal writing angle it is at least a Japanese broad with a less controlled flow of ink. What it lacks in consistency, it more than makes up for in character. But you already knew that :)

Too many pens; too little writing.

I have had my Essential No.9 now for a while and I do quite like it though the nib for me is too large...when I switch to a regular sized nib it's always a relief.

The nib on mine is an italic and it has a sweet spot as many nibs do but it doesn't offer much in the way of feedback so if you are a finger writer it's a difficult pen to use...if you write as you should, at a constant angle then it works beautifully.

My next Romillo will definitely have a number 7 nib.

Im happy to say it writes beautifully. Had a bit of a close call though. I momentarily put it up for sale on fpn. A miscomunication was made with my taxes and i was hit with a massive chunk of owed money. So in a panic i started to list all my pens for sale. Listing the romillo was the hardest thing ive had to do concerning this hobby. I was so distraught in fact i thought about giving up the whole thing. But a bit of an unexpected "happening" occured (i wont dare call it miracle). So i pulled my pen from the listing as fast as my fingers could type. Happy to say i can keep my obsession afloat.

And as usual mongrelnomad hit it on the head with the nakaya/romillo nib comparison

I too am going to go for another romillo, but first i will have to try a conid bulkfiller--- once again mongrelnomad has convinced me to try yet another pen

Glad to hear the taxes issue was cleared up to the rescue of your beloved Romillo. That is happy news.

The bulkfiller is great. I got a demo so I could appreciate the engineering. They are fun to fill and hold a lot of ink. I am waiting to see the kingsize LE later this year.

Sblakers, I'm glad that it worked out fine in the end. I saw your ad and was gone in a few hours thought it was sold that fast.

What Romillo are you going to go for?

Which maker has a true round BB nibs? Not the stubbish one.

I'm curious to find out Nakaya BB nib. Are they round or stubish?

Please enlighten me with Conid bulk filler.

Really? Visconti dreamtouch BB looks a bit stubbish from the sample writings on youtube.

How about Omas Arco BB?

I have used a Nakaya BB nib and they are quite round.  No line variation that I could see.

Thank you very much for the comparison pictures! They helped a lot. I just put in an order for a solid blue ebonite Essential #9 last weekend. It'll be a little longer than my Eo #9 but I think it should be manageable. The weight is also less than an Eo #9. I ordered the Essential with a semi-flexible Fine nib, solid gold roll-stop, and solid gold barrel-end cabochon with the Romillo logo.  Just need a Sil #9 and I think I'll have all the Romillo pens that interest me. Though I do want to get another Newton before that.

Congrats on the new pen. Be sure to post pictures and your impressions.

Thank you! Definitely will do so! I think I have another 5-6 weeks to wait.

Btw, thank you for the advice on the Danitrio Mikado purchase. I really love mine. One thing that surprised me is the line width the nib puts down. I ordered a fine nib but it puts down closer to a medium or even broad line. Other than that, though, it's great. I think I'd like to get another Mikado in a different color one day.

After seeing these posts with the beautiful Romillo pens, I have decided to take the very expensive plunge of ordering a Romillo Nervion.  They are just too beautiful to ignore.  I'll be selling my other fountain pens to finance this new purchase which makes me a little sad since I'll have to say goodbye to my Namiki Yukari Royale in vermillion finish and my Montblanc 149 90th :(
