Yay! How do we find out more details about the meeting, and is it open to everyone/anyone?

Thanks for the confirmation on Mike-It-Work.

(Also, sorry for my repeated orders of various Sailor Bungbox inks this week. I simply could not wait until the DC pen show to have them. :( )

It worked for the best; We sold out- so not going to have much for DC. Plenty of other inks to play/ buy at the show though!

Got my hotel reservations in. Unfortunately, I was too late to get the convention/show rate. And with driving down Friday evening this year (thus making for the need for a second night's stay) it's going to be a pricy weekend.... And that's even before I hit the tables Saturday morning!

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

The WAHL-EVERSHARP Company will be there in the Atrium again this year. We always introduce one of our new pens at the DC Show. As will be the case this year. Our all new Empire Celluloid Collection and a special unveiling of a big full flex model. Check out the DC pen show website to see what I mean.

Looking forward to seeing old friends and new.

Everyone is invited! We are still trying to work out which meeting room to use, its hard to know how many people to expect. Brad mentioned 75 people - I think double that size. It will be Friday evening after the show closes around 7:00 pm. You can check our twitter feeds for details. BRING pens to share.

I would also like to know that. There's a possibility of me getting in on Friday (my regular rider can't make it this year and I'm trying to talk the philistine (er, darling husband) into going down with me (partly with the promise of the very nice hotel pool). He's even game on paying the day rate on Saturday and wandering in for an hour or so. I figure that if he meets a few people in a more controlled setting (as opposed to the crush on Saturday and Sunday) I can maybe coax him into being sociable.... And understanding.... (And since I just found out that the FPH special LE Pelicans are sold out, appreciative of my frugalness....)

Mostly, though, it's that he doesn't want to have to get up at zero dark thirty to be on the road by 5 AM....

Friday evening when the show closes around 7 pm. ALL are welcome. It is easier to visit in the evening especially with the popular bloggers/ social media gurus.

See you there!

Thanks very much for this info. I will be staying at the hotel and will be there Thursday and Friday, so I hope to get to know some people before the big crowds hit. Looking forward to seeing lots of folks there. Anyone who's coming, be sure to post in this thread.

Head to the ink table after 6 pm and search out the small crowd outside and take in a Black Pen Society meeting and you will strike up a conversation or two with a new fountain pen person.

While I can not attend this year I will be there in spirit. You all have fun. I have sent my money with a kind and superb friend to find me a Parker 75 and maybe a Sheaffer or a Franklin Christoph.

With Bung Box coming in person from Japan and Akkerman inks being available along with the normal nib meisters and vendors we all watch videos from this will be another successful year and show.

Rob Maguire (Plse call me "M or Mags" like my friends do...)I use a Tablet, Apple Pencil and a fountain pen. Targas, Sailor, MB, Visconti, Aurora, vintage Parkers, all wonderful.

Bung box is coming?!?!

Current Wishlist:

Visconti, Visconti, and...more Visconti! (And some ST Duponts too). (Ok fine, getting on the Omas and Montblanc trains now too. Toot toot.) (And maybe on the Montegrappa one too, but only for the Miyas.)

Hi all!

I can read the various fountain pen show schedules as well as all the posts on this forum. However, the DC Pen Show still doesn't seem real until I receive the postcard, which arrived in my mailbox this afternoon. I already have my wish list, packing list, and pen repair list ready to go. I will be a mess for two more weeks and can't wait for the show. I missed the show last year which makes this feeling even worse than usual. Also looking forward to a wonderful dinner at Shamshiri, located just across the street from the Sheraton.

Somehow, my packing list doesn't tell me where to find all of the cash that I might need to turn my shopping list into reality. Hopefully there is still an ATM in the lobby!!

Regards,

Craig

Still waiting on the opportunity to acquire. Perhaps you could post images of what you are taking - unless those are for the show only?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
