Recommended Posts

Twsbi just posted a pic of the new eco with the caption "twsbi eco final testing done! It's almost ready folks" I would have posted the picture but I'm currently on my phone so I can't, but the pen looks good. Can't wait

Had no idea this was in the works, I thought you meant the wood pen! Any idea on price and size, plus what corners they cut to make it cheaper?

From what i have heard the pen is going to around 30 bucks, I think. I have no idea what exactly makes it cheaper, but it looks like it has a piston and everything so I am excited!

Yeah, I heard TWSBI (on their FB page) is going to be releasing it for about 30 USD as well. This could very well be another pen I recommend to beginners along with the Safari and MR.

This will probably be my first TWSBI. I am looking for non-staining blue inks for a demonstrator like this. Recommendations?

It will literally become a blue demonstrator, I suppose. Also, to anyone concerned like me, don't use Pilot Blue in transparent pens. It likes to stick to plastic if exposed for couple hours. It is mostly cleanable by scrubing. I like the ink but I wouldn't want it in a demonstrator. It even stained a plastic container where I was flushing a pen, I dropped the section there to dissolve the ink, and it was all stained later. Even the mold mark of the section (Ivory Prera) got stained in a way I could not clean, because it was not polished and absorbed the ink. In my demonstrator TWSIBI I want something very washable, but not boring like Parker Washable Blue. Maybe non-reddish/purple Lamy inks?

Waterman Serenity Blue is VERY safe in pens, and comparatively inexpensive - I also like Waterman Inspired Blue (a recent Goulet ink drop sample), though it's more of a turquoise... Or you could look into one of the Iroshizuku blues, if you're happy to pay a premium. (I have Tsuki Yo, which is more of a blue-black.)

I will definitely be picking one of these up. While I prefer screw in nibs, in actuality I really don't change nibs that often to matter. I just hope it's postable!

Well the Iroshizuku in in your name pic should work. I've never had any problems with iroshizuku inks with staining. I have non peki in my 700 and ASA gao in my 580 RG and even left them in for 2.5 months while crazy busy and no issues at all!! They seem as well behaved and safe as waterman.

Maybe skrip blue. Their inks are very safe.

But waterman is an extremely safe bet.

I look forward to the release of the Eco. If it's anything like my other TWSBI's, I'm certain to like if not love it. The PP025 and PP026 prototypes look quite promising too.

I'm hoping to see these in LA.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
