What Pen Are You Waiting For In The Mail 2015

Just arrived, an anonymous looking black pen marked Reform, with a two-tone nib (posted in Reform thread for help on identification as it is not a 1745 but looks like a 'sympathy'... who knows). Inked up, nib writes well with a degree of flex. Probably a cheapo.... with my luck.

Just got an email saying that my new Wahl-Eversharp Decoband should be arriving in 3-4 weeks.

A stainless Damascus nib would be epic!

Here is my fanciest pen with my fanciest knife:

That's a nice pen and one hell of a knife. Have you ever seen Jim Skelton's Sebenza?

My "fanciest" knife is my Brous Blades Silent Soldier in the Zombie Edition. I am happy I got it, even though I had to pay quite a premium with international shipping and import tax (they tax the shipping cost aswell).

On my way to me right now is a Lamy x LineFriends Safari Brown. It should probably arrive in the next few days.

Heard good things about the wee Pilot Kakuno so added one to my order of some paper from Jet Pens.

The Visconti Rainbow arrived, as well as the repaired Retro 51 Scriptmaster and Esterbrook SJ. I am thrilled with all three, and they haven't left my desk since they arrived.

I've just placed an order for a Namiki Yukari Nightline Moonlight. So excited! If I didn't have to go to work for so very, very many days to pay for it, I'd just wait by the mailbox for it to arrive.

Conid Regular Bulkfiller Demonstrator Flat Top. EF nib. Way more pen than I ever thought I'd own but decided to invest in one to last a long time instead of buying many over the next few years. Hope it arrives soon but I have no idea when they ship.

You will love it. I was given mine when I graduated from high school in 1967. I have several nibs for it, including a stub that I got recently from nibs.com. The 75 is not very large, but it writes so smoothly!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
