My wife will not very happy after she sees the bank statement:

1. A Parker 51 from a fellow FPN

2. A Wancher Oshita Lacquerware Maki-e Autumn edition

3. A Pelikan M150 vintage - pre 1992

4. An unknown Pelikan, won it accidently on eBay. Look strange with one ring on the barrel and 2 rings on the cap. Wait to check it closely when arrive. Not in very good shape, but for $33, what's to worry about, it is a Pelikan.

I'm sure everybody knows what the TWSBI is, but this stunning picture by thenewsprint is so gorgeous!

Are there some reviews forthcoming?

There will definitely be one for the Yukari Royale but I am told there is a few weeks lead time and I am heading to Europe for 5 weeks so I probably wont have it in my hands until early August.

The Nippon Art should arrive this week and if I chose to keep that one I will write a review some time this month.

Thank you in advance. I hope you have a good trip to Europe—and come home with a few pens!

Today is the 11th day of waiting for a Parker Premier (75) in Laque de Chine. The pen spent 7 days without being scanned after pick up from the shipper. After a case # was assigned by USPS it moved BUT since yesterday has remained for 31 hours @ the distribution center prior to delivery @ my Post Office less than 30 miles distance. Tracking information has obviously provided no information except "package is in transit to destination." After initial delivery estimate of May 24 there is now a "delayed delivery schedule."

I am grateful it is only a pen & not medication needed for treatment of life threatening illness. I have never encountered such delivery issue NOR the seeming indifference of USPS when called for information. I indeed wonder if a Pelikan will not arrive more promptly that has been shipped from Germany?

It sounds like it would have arrived more promptly if they'd just tied it to a *pelican* and told him your address.

LOL, truth! :lticaptd:

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
