Is Chelpark Ink Still Available In Mumbai ?

Nikhil Parmar

Recommended Posts

Namaste everybody,

I am Nikhil Parmar from Mumbai, INDIA, a new member of this amazing site. I am a pen lover and decided to get into fountain pens. I wanted a buy a good fountain and After reading so many posts of this site on Fountain Pens...i purchased Parker Frontier recently from Amazon.in @ a discounted price of Rs. 450 with the manufacturing date of Nov 2014. :-)

After going through many discussion, i figured out that Camlin and Chelpark is most talked in India. Getting interest in Chelpark, i inquired few shops..but not available. And after reading posts i am confused whether Chelpark is still available or not in Mumbai ?

Can you please help me out getting Chelpark Ink in Mumbai. And if it is available, is it ok if I buy Chelpark Ink bottle(s) that belong to the older slot ? i mean manufactured few years back inks !

Thank You.

@ Nikhil; Did you end up finding the Chelpark locally? I used to use it in the late 80's and my 9-year old self had a massive preference for it over Camlin. My parents will be in India (Bombay) over the winter at different points - would be nice to relive the Hero / Chelpark combination once again.

Today i contacted Manoj Pen Mart at Fort. They said they have Chelpark Blue (10 Quantity), Chelpark Black (10 Quantity) and Chelpark Crimson Violet (3 Quantity). May be i will visit in the Feb and get 2 or 3. ! But i dont know whether they are New or NOS. But is it safe to buy NOS Chelpark Inks ?

I think its safe to buy Chelpark Blue and Black...but maybe not Crimson Violet. The CV crystallises faster than rest..so one must be careful and buy

Risminder.... Try http://www.store108.in/

Are you seriously buying Chelpark for Rs. 475 ? Speak with Mr. S - he will make it available to you much cheaper

If you seriously want good Indian ink - ask him for Brill.

I put my savings to test

Lamy & Pilot FPs the Best

No more I even think of the rest

(Preference Fine and Extra Fine Nibs)

Pen is meant for writing - not for looking :-)

Hi Nikhil, I too am from Mumbai. You do get chelpark here. I personally own crimson violet and shephire blue these work very well.

I brought these from a small stationary shop next to Apsara and opposite to Shukla at Fountain area. Don't remember the name.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
