I believe I saw someone in the Classifieds section here selling it by the ream (500 sheets) for something like $100 plus shipping, if that's any help.

I might be wrong as I haven't checked the listing, but I suspect the Tomoegawa paper for sale in the Classifieds is standard 52gsm paper, not the 68gsm that Saskia is looking for.

Ah, gotcha. I didn't check the ad out closely, because I have no need for a ream of paper of any sort--just sort of saw it in passing :-).

If you are based in the US, and use the regular size Midori Traveler's Notebook system, you can try these 68gsm Tomoe River papers here:

Only white version available now, but ghosting is improved compared to the 52gsm version.

Thanks, Steve. I've seen this on sale at least one other place, but that was in the form of a meeting notebook (as in, a notebook specifically for notes about team meetings and such), which I really don't need. I don't have a full size Midori, but something like this would be great for sampling the paper. :)

I finally heard from TR. Stay posted.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

Taroko is available Worldwide via the Etsy Shop.

I have PM'd him regarding a Writing Pad as I don't use the Midori Notebook but he has no plans to do this.

I don't use a regular size Midori, but I ordered a couple of books for my friend and I to try. I should have them Monday.

Will report back...

I've got both weights of paper in journals. Still prefer the 52gsm.

Two questions

Is the heavier weight paper less see through. I love the 52gsm paper, but it's translucent enough to sometimes be a bother.

Does the heavier weight paper hold it's form more? By this I mean the 52gsm is more like tissue paper and when turning pages it is very easy to accidentally fold it over.

I love the 52gsm paper, but it was designed for low weight catalogs and the like

The 68gsm is less see through and generally a bit more substantial. The surface is not quite as "slick" with a very slight "tooth".

Ink dry times are a little shorter. Overall I like them both and would like to be able to easily get the 68gsm as well.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
