What Pens Are You Using Today 2

Spent the day writing with my trusty Esterbrook M2 (black) with 9668 nib, loaded with Herbin Perle Noire. Came home from work to find that my "deep yellow" Pilot VP (steel F nib) arrived. Not bad shipping; it left Tokyo two days ago.

I loaded it up with Noodler's Habanero, although I really wanted to put the Burma Road Brown in it; my wife thought that was unacceptable for some reason. <shrug> Turns out she was right. When the Habanero dries, it's almost exactly the same color as the pen's body.

Today I used a lowly Parker Vector with a fine nib, inked with Noodler's Black after work. I forgot my key to my desk at work, so I had to get by with a ballpoint for the entire day before I got home -horror-

Today I have been using my trusty Lamy 2000, a Jinhao 159 at work for taking meeting notes, and my Pelikan M600 with Pelikan Green ink to do some journaling. I just popped into my local pen store and left a old Parker Vacumatic and a Conway Stewart lever fill to be restored.

Inked up ALL of my pens with Pelikan Brilliant Black in an attempt to finish my first bottle of ink.

So,

TWSBI 580

TWSBI mini

Pilot Decimo

Pilot Stargazer

Pilot Metropolitan

Pilot Prera

Cross Classic Century

Faber Castell Emotion

Faber Castell Emotion

Parker Vector

Parker Vector

Parker Frontier

Lamy Studio

Lamy Vista

Dupont Fidelio

Rotring Esprit

Should take a while to run them dry.

I have a similar project. I got a brand new bottle of Pelikan Königsblau with a pen, so I'm trying to empty an old bottle to make room for Noodler's Kung Te-Cheng. Next thing I know, I've got nine pens inked up with Königsblau.

But today, I used a Cross Aventura with Lamy Blue-Black.

Still enjoying putting my twsbi Eco through its paces. I filled it with private reserve tanzanite over a month ago, and it's still going strong. I did just get some new ink samples in, so this weekend may be playing with something else.

The second fountain pen that I ever purchased a Pilot Metropolitan with Pilot Namiki Black cartridge. I am brand new to fountain pens. I am awaiting ink in the mail to fill up my Platinum 3776 Century. (I asked a question about this pen in another thread) and Noodlers Ahab that I just received today.

My trusty Lamy 2000 when I took down notes after my morning reading, my Pelikan M200 for journaling, and I just finished writing a letter to a new pen pal I met on this forum with my trusty new Pelikan M600 loaded with Pelikan Adventurine ink. Note taking at work everyday I use my ever working Jinhao 159.

Notes at work: Pelikan M800, EF, DA Sherlock Holmes. The combination of pen, ink and paper (a no name, "made in EU" notebook) results in a pretty thick line, certainly not my idea of extra-fine, but for quick scribbles at work, this is actually quite nice. The M800 nib almost sings as it moves across the paper.

My notes needed a bit of colour, so I added a TWSBI Diamond 580, 1.1 mm stub, Diamine Syrah to the mix.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
