Today it's been:

Pilot Metropolitan, M nib, with diluted (I think) Diamine Classic Red -- which is rapidly becoming my favorite "true" red (even beating out Akkerman #19 Rood Haags Pluche).

Noodler's Charlie eyedropper, flex nib with Noodler's Heart of Darkness. Still trying to make up my mind about both pen and ink....

Whata bout a Jinhao x750 ? Great, cheap, good, eye catcher ......

I just bought one of these.

The red lava version, and all for the princely sum of £1.99 inc shipping.

For £1.99 ($3) it's got to be worth a punt.

Is the center a Bexley Poseidon 2 Magnum? I want one of those so badly. Do you like it? How does it compare to the MB? Is that a 146?

It is indeed. I just got it in, and I love it! It screams quality, IMHO. It feels very well made, has some heft to it, and the fit/finish are fantastic. I would not hesitate to buy another one. Mine came with an M steel nib, which I promptly pulled out and replaced with a Goulet 1.1 stub. Not that the stock nib was bad; I just wanted a nice pen that will accept unique nibs.

 

I believe that one is a 146. Truthfully, I think the Bexley "feels" more solid and refined than the 146. There is definitely some craftsmanship that went into the Bexley. The 146 is slimmer overall, lighter, and the section is just the slightest bit thinner than the Bexley.

Thanks for the reply. I'm currently trying to snag a great deal on a Poseidon Magnum 2 via auction, so this is was very encouraging. I'm trying for a blue one with that same striated pattern to the acrylic.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off.
