Hi everyone! I was referred to this network from another user, and I must say the amount of information available here is HUGE.

I am relatively new to the fountain pen scene, and I clumsily record my adventures on my YouTube channel.

I don't have a vast collection of pens, and the most expensive in my possession is a TWSBI 580 black and rose gold (which I absolutely LOVE).

I'm really into finding obscure brands of pens from either small or international manufacturers, so if you have any recommendations, let me know!

My current favorite ink is the Pilot Iroshizuku Tsutsuji, but I have also discovered J. Herbin's scented range which I think is also pretty awesome. Other brands I love are Noodler's and Organics studio (much sadness in the hiatus)

In terms of nibs, I favor Japanese mediums and European fines.

But I am always open to suggestion and recommendation, so if you guys have anything I need to try, drop me a message!

Looking forward to meeting some new people!

-Odin

Hi there, how are you? I'm rather new to both this forum and fountain pens as well. For 10 years I collected Montblancs, primarily the Montblanc Writers Editions. Two weeks ago a user here who has become a friend told me about Mabie Todd fountain pens...her words were, "Beware! Mabie Todds are like drugs!" Of course I had to get one...and then five more! The Mabie Todd Co. was established in 1860 in New York. You should read the history of these pens. Anyway, she was right in comparing them to drugs...out of the six I bought on eBay only three have yet to arrive, and now that I'm onto these Mabie Todds my Montblancs get almost no action. : ) The last one I received on Monday, and it's GORGEOUS. Guess how old???? It's 96 years old! Can you believe it? Oh, and Mabie Todds have 14k nibs--THE NIBS to have. Steel won't do at all. You mentioned you are interested in rarities so I mention Mabie Todd. : )

I have no idea what those initials stand for when you wrote which pen you're loving right now so do spell it out for me. By the way, Japanese inks aren't good for fountain pens. : ( I learned this just three days ago on the Fountain Pen Geeks site. If you're looking for a wicked bad Sailor fountain pen I'd be happy to sell you mine for exactly what I paid for it. I've only had it for a month now, and it hasn't been used much at all because I don't like the nib. My Sailor is the Nagahara Naginata Togi. Its nib was fashioned to resemble an ancient Japanese sword. It's a big fountain pen...almost as big as my Montblanc 149. For Sailor lovers these Nagahara Naginata Togis are the Holy Grails of fountain pens.

Check out The Fountain Pen Geeke site, you'll love it. Like this site, you can become a member and learn lots of stuff. : )

Lynn

Welcome !

I can't guarantee "obscure", but a couple of lesser-known brands would be Reform, Elgin,

Onward, Champion, and Tuckersharpe.  I believe all of these are out of production, but

they would fun to track down.  All the better, if you find specimens that write.
