Found - Uninked Nos Snorkel Set -- Help!

So, my sister was cleaning out boxes this morning and brought a Sheaffer Snorkel set. I don't know a lot about Sheaffers, but I was able to identify that it was a snorkel. What kind?! I know it's a 14k gold nib in fine width. The bands do not appear to be gold, but gold tone due to what appears to be tarnish. I was able to tell it had never been inked and it retains the band around the section with the words "Fine", clearly indicating the nib width. The size of the two barrels is pretty petite, perhaps about the same as an Estie or a little narrower gauge (I'm not home, so no calipers or such).

 

From what little I could tell, it appears that the bladder (?!) is very viable. I looked at the small, round hole in the metal reservoir housing, which could be totally the wrong way to tell. As I said, I'm not a Sheaffer guy. I've been trying to get my sis into fountain pens and she's excited, so I'm hoping to learn and verify the pen is viable.

 

Any help would be great!

The safest thing to do is to assume the sac, o-ring and point seal gasket need replacing, and get that done. You can find professionals who do this work by searching in the Repair forum. Good luck.

Even if all is still good the gaskets and sac are at least a half century old so get them replaced. You don't show the nib or snorkel so it might also be a Sheaffer "TM".

Not unless there's been a cap swap. The defining feature of the one non WD TM TD model is the lack of Sheaffer's on the clip. In general the matching pencil with the TM TD is the wider variety as well.

That's how I figured out that my first and second ones are Valiants, and the third one is a Statesman.

You have either (based on nib) a(n): Admiral (14K Monotone Nib), Saratoga (2 Tone 14K nib) or a Special (PdAg Nib)

Based on those references, I'm willing to guess an Admiral. The nib does say 14k, but it's monotone.

According to your saying, it is an Admiral Admiral's nib is monotone, the two-tone nib one should be Saratoga

Not that I can find, but it does have the following engraving:

W. A. SHEAFFER PEN CO.

FT. MADISON, IOWA, U.S.A

MADE IN U.S.A

 

The clip has "Sheaffer" and the Nib has "Sheaffer" and "REG. U.S. PATENT OFF." above the 14k marking. and "MADE IN U.S.A" below the 14k marking along with a "5" below the rest (closest to the section).
