Seeing your sample, I may need to acquire it. Love purple blacks.

BTW, with a cross over color like that, feel free to include it in the Blue blacks and Black threads too.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Purple-blacks: Are you a fan of Akkerman Voorhout Violet? I never could warm up to the dark, Rembrandt-y color. I know it's classic and all, but too gloomy for me. And Cult Pens' Deep Dark Purple has nice sheen, but too dark for me. [Donations may appear in your mailbox...]

I was about to offer to swap or send my 30ml bottle, but I just saw your location. Postage might be worth more than the ink sample!

Sadly, that's true. I once wanted to send a TWSBI pen and a bottle of ink to a penpal in Sweden, and if I recall correctly, the postage from the US would have been around $25 (£17.50)! Would that it were not so...

Thank you Evyxmsj! I agree the postage is the killer. I ended up purchasing a bunch of Diamine inks when we were able to do a group buy and it made the shipping really reasonable.

I sent three sheets of tomoe and one 3ml pipette of Cigar to SE Asia, slowboat, and it ran over 13.00 because of the non-flat shape I had to be charged package rates

As beautiful as it is, Red Cashmere outsheens it.

Do you have any red cashmere?

PS, you aren't allowed to marry someone else.

Thank you for sharing this Amber! I have considered Dumas Tuilpe Noire, but I was hesitant to buy a bottle without trying it first. Too bad there aren't samples available. I have had several disappointments with some inks that I thought would be a great dark purple that were just too red or brown for my taste, so I am more cautious now. Also I have so many inks that I am aware I have gotten a bit repetitive, lol. I am slowly trying to branch out into different colors, lol. ;)

It's an absolute favorite of mine. Super pretty color, and the scent is reminiscent of a perfume my mother used to wear when I was young.

It's in the middle of these three:

Oooh, I think this one (Pilot Violet cartridge) is going in my next rotation.

What is the green of the eyes?

It's either JH Vert Empire or Kobe Susuran.

Does anyone know if the ink in the Pilot Mixable cartridges is the same as the Pilot Mixable (previously called "Mix Free") ink bottles? I've been assuming it is but I don't have any cartridges to do a direct comparison.

Amberlea's Violet cartridge in post #233 looks very similar to Silky Purple. And maybe the pink that Lgsoltek is using might match the bottled Cyclamen Pink?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
