Hi guys, I have a 1998 Parker Sonnet Premier Red Lacquer in Pristine Mint condition. I was wondering what the price of this would be, I've checked Ebay and Amazon but hey don't have this pen. On the cap it says Parker Sonnet France then the date code IIIE (1998) On the nib there is a F for Fine and on the nib is says Parker. The nib it self is 18 Karat Gold. Each square is half a inch. Pictures uploaded below. Can anyone give me a price estimate? Thanks!

Suspect the squares are 1/4 inch.

However, I would describe that as a top end price. I bought an identical pen on ebay, never used with the box, etc., for $31 about two years ago. It has the same color and a gold plated steel nib as in the OP. With the gold plated steel nib I would estimate $30 to $50 in an ebay sale. You do see many Sonnets on ebay with much higher asking prices, but they seem to linger for sale.

I just bought a new Red Lacquer Sonnet on Overstock; it looks similar to the photos shown here. I paid 97 USD for it. I mention this to participate in this conversation.

 

I would like to introduce a new question, if I may. The Sonnet pen I purchased was initially a very wet pen. I cleaned the pen thoroughly and plugged in a Parker cartridge with black ink, and that improved the pen's performance significantly. However it still lays down a lot of ink on the paper. I've heard that Pelikan brilliant black ink is a drier ink, and I have ordered a bottle. So my question is: What can I expect by using this Pelikan ink in my Parker Sonnet pen?

To me the Pelikan 4001 is the best ink. Have been using it for a very long time . Not wet not dry. I just love using it in all my pens.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
