I also don't have much experience posting written content so I will be figuring out the best width for the page

Welcome! I can't quite class myself as a Geekhack level keyboard addict but I do love my mechanical keyboards...Massdrop is killing me now between keycap drops AND fountain pens.

When I first got a fountain pen a couple of months back I feared it would be wasted because I do spend so much time on computers, but I've noticed I'm writing at every opportunity now, it's been a really nice change of pace. For the first time ever I wrote a list on the train this morning instead of just putting the list on my phone. It felt good :D

I hope you will find it has the same positive impact for you.

Welcome, Frosty !

I have only tested a Pilot E95 at a pen shop. I asked about it because it is a handsome pen.

Possibly an addition to my collection in the near future. I hope to read your impressions .

Write with joy.

Nice to find someone who also likes keyboards. :)

It is also really nice that you aren't quite as into it as I am. You never know the true feeling of being broke until you take up a hobby like that. Although I do imagine that this hobby is also quite the wallet killer.

Hi Frosty and welcome to FPN

A marker.... tsk tsk tsk... on the fountain pen network.... :headsmack: .

Heresy? No, not that bad. Hey, as long as you feel happy with it.. :) ...

But I am sure you'll find much more joy in writing with a well balanced fountain pen suited to your hands and writing style.

And I'm sure these pages will provide you loads of information to aid the search for such a fountainpen.

Enjoy the forum...

Don't worry, I will be moving away from the marker :P

I have just bought an Elite 95s from one of the users here and it should take a couple weeks to arrive. A review will be posted and it should be an interesting one coming from a first-timer.

Hello and welcome, Frosty. I'm glad you joined us. Please don't hesitate to share your questions and opinions. I hope you enjoy your time with us. By the way, I once thought of living up there in Northern Canada. I probably should have gone when I had the opportunity. As it is now, I live in a place that is a desert -that is dry always- and yet is extremely cold for much of the year. Not quite the best of both worlds . . .

Again, welcome.

Although I am close to Toronto, I unfortunately have work on Sundays... :/

I should have joined a week earlier :D

I had visions of you living near Timmins or Thunder Bay when you said "the great north of Canadia", wood cabin style after reading your letter, I take things too seriously :headsmack: . I used to live in Ottawa and I would look at the Toronto forecast with envy, then Timmins to remind myself it could be worse on those wonderful -20C or worse days.

A warm Alberta howdy! Hope you like the place.

Mac

Sometimes a technology reaches perfection and further development is just tinkering. The fountain pen is a good example of this.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
