Will I stain my (ordered) Pel. M400 Tortoise?

Yesterday I ordered up an M400 in tortoise and white. Since the section is white, what are the chances it's going to stain from filling? I'm not so much worried about my inky fingers in this case, but there will certainly be contact with ink on that beautiful white section.

Probably shouldn't use Noodler's permanent inks, huh?

Wooo, I can't wait! :bunny1:

last statement is the most important one.

I'd avoid the dark Noodler's colors and the waterproof. I had a brief panic some time ago when I put Legal Lapis in my White tortoise. It stuck very stubbornly to the white section though I did eventually get the ink off of it. I have Diamine ink in it now and it wipes off easily. Kiowa Pecan and similarly dark Noodler's are almost as stubborn as the waterproof inks. I think Taki had trouble with Kiowa Pecan sticking in the threads and could not clean it out.

It's such a "delicate" looking pen that a subtle ink, IMO, suits it better anyway.

I'll be sure to update with my findings when I've had a chance to ink it up. In this case I prefer a bold contrast between pen and ink. I plan to fill it with some PR Lake Placid Blue and see how that goes. Something about a wet dark line from a dainty instrument feels empowering to me. =) If I get some American Blue I'll try that out!

Hmmm.

I think I'll follow this topic closely. That's one pen that is at the top of my wish list.

I'm waiting to put some Diamine Sepia in mine. Might be a long wait. I just like the idea of a nice brown ink in that pen. I've tried green, and that works too, but just isn't ideal in my crazy mind. ;)

Hmmmmm. Father's Day is coming soon. I've dropped some hints (websites, print-outs, open pages from the FPH Catalog).

I'll wait and see what happens. But, I will write with one sooner rather than later!!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
