Thanks for the pictures!

The acrylic pen display stand comes with the pen? I'd definitely like to have one of those stands for when I start taking formal photos of my Townsends.

That's a gorgeous pen! Love the attention to detail they've put into the design of the pen. Nice and girthy looking. Is the nib springy? The shape of that nib would seem to suggest it could be. Will have to make room on my Cross pen tray for an addition to the family.

The limited edition pen is stunning - I can't deny that - but even this one, which is priced at $3,900, is not solid gold but 18k rolled gold. There is no way that I would pay nearly $4,000 on a rolled gold pen!!

Some time ago it was stated that after a period of time they'd probably be discounted. In my opinion they are currently overpriced much like I felt about Conway Stewart. If they were discounted 25% they'd be in approximately the same price range as comparable Sheaffers and Parkers. And believe you, me, at that price I would jump at one of the 125's!!!!

It is a set of nibs, which should have any good shop selling Peerless products. The idea is to be able to test and possibly buy a different thickness of the nib (EF, F, M or B).

The Medalist is a happy combination of colour and texture, much like other Cross models. The brushed platinum works well; I've felt it on a Townsend LE.

If the Peerless is as good as it looks, perhaps some of its features, like screw cap and some of its girth to go towards a Townsend II creation.

The acrylic stand is a thoughtful addition.

The Medalist is OK, but it would be nicer if the white metal was sterling silver instead of thinly platinum plated brass. I prefer the fully gold plated one - obviously the rolled gold is best of all but not at $3,900.

I broke down and purchased the fountain pen, and am happy to say that the dimensions of the fountain pen are much more pleasing than the ballpoint.

BTW, they WERE 25% off, or rather buy two and the second was 50% off.

Where can I go to get my grubby hands on one? Have to feel it to see if it is true love. I was hoping office Max/Depot would carry them, but not in this town.

Cheers,

Why is the convertor in a separate kit? Does the pen itself not come with a convertor?

Hi,

i recently purchased this black laquor 125 by chance. I didn't know anything about Cross's pens before.

I felt in love with F Nib trying it in my favourite pen shop.

I've got 14K ( saporo ) and 21 K ( 1911) sailor's nibs and i would say : that 18K en F size ( feeling was diferent with 125 in M size) is really amazing to me. Superior to 14K and 21 K ( IMHO ).

PS : Yes pen becomes with converter.

Thanks for the pictures and input! That is wonderful line variation there. Looks like near semi-flex.

I think the Cross Peerless is going to be serious contention for Visconti Homo Sapiens and other high end pens from Montblanc and Sailor.

I like the MB146 kind of girth too.

Been itching to add to my Cross collection. May go for it soon as funds permit.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
