I've had a Parker 65 fountain pen for more than 30 years (12ct rolled gold, English made) I recently aquired a matching ball pen and pencil for £20 each and almost instantly lost the ball pen. On looking for a replacement, I found a gold 180 fountain pen and ball pen set (made in the USA) for £40. Is this the beginning of the end? I seem to have paid a very reasonable price for the 180 set, looking at Ebay. I also have an elderly Platignum which actually writes very nicely. I can upload some pics if that would be of any interest.

:W2FPN:

I once worked with a lady who never used intemperate language. One day a colleague and I were having a discussion when this lady wandered over and joined in - some people can be like that. Anyway, I told her we were discussing insurance, thinking that will be boring and she will go away but she persisted. So I told her that my current insurer was Norfolk & Chance. When she said she had never heard of them I asked "Who?". "Norfolk & Chance" she replied. And as I displayed a puzzled expression she repeated the company name twice more in quick succession... and then comprehension dawned, face went red, she stormed off vowing revenge - but that is a whole other story!

<don't know how our US friends pronounce 'Norfolk' but I am sure any native Brits will know what I mean  )

'Allo, 'Allo. I used to live in a little place called Thetford back when F-111s were all the rage with the local plane-spotters. Got some of my nicest furniture from a man in Cromer.

Hi Khris and welcome to FPN.

Interesting find, an 180 set in gold for that kind of money. Are you sure it is an 180, or perhaps a Classic? Easily confused.

Enjoy the forum

Welcome !

I find the Parker 180 fascinating.  It is, however, odd and skinny pen.  The low popularity yields good bargains.

@ Cryptos >>>

My relatives don't deal with Norfolk & Chance.  They prefer the older firm of Dewey,  Cheattam,  &  Howe.
