And 47 gets it! Now to go check to see who 47 is.

Congrats!

I want a recount. You must have given me the wrong number! Congratulations, 47!

Let me add my congratulations for #47 too.

Sadly it was not me. :crybaby:

Of course I just got my postcards in the mail yesterday. And the real $64K question (other than "Will the real #47 please step forward?" -- which of course leads to the mental image of a Spartacus-like moment ) is "What is that GORGEOUS green ink that you used on the envelope, Shawn?"

Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Chiku Rin - That explains the "cheeky grin" Ruth has. I'll have to wait and see if I get green, too.

Hello, I am #47. Nice to meet you all and I hope you get lucky next time! I'm an occasional lurker with a small collection who is suddenly about to go to another level entirely. Last night's euphoria has melted into the anxiety of choice. I've been thinking about the Shinobi because I like the flattened edge, but in some wild colors...

Hi and welcome to FPN

Seems about time you became an official member here.

So what other pens are in that small collection? (we're al mighty curious here, about things like that. Also we would like to know which ink you are going to use in your prize..........)

Enjoy that pen, you lucky .... and enjoy the forum...

Thank you!

The ink is pretty important. I started down this path when I wandered into a bookstore with a pen section and realized that we were living in some sort of golden age of inks. I picked up a variety of wonky Noodler's pens, and then got myself a TWSBI Vac 700. Then I got a Lamy 2000 and recently a Franklin-Christoph Model 25 with a Matsuyama stub nib. Now I'm getting a Newton pen... I'm just spiraling upwards here. I guess it's a Nakaya next?

As to what is going in it, I keep dropping hints to friends and family about the J Herbin anniversary inks. Hopefully Christmas will be kind!

That would certainly be a cool gift. I got a letter today that was written with Stormy Grey which looked lovely. I hope Santa brings what you've hinted at. Do be sure to post photos of your new pen when it arrives!

I posted this to InstaGram but I thought I'd post here as well. I'm using on the Shawn's postcards for the first time and I love the results! Ink is Sailor Shigure with gold sheen! The ink lays down an almost black line but when the light hits it, look out!

Congratulations #47!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
