Retail is ~$150. The more expensive models on nibs.com exc. have gold nibs whereas the one in the drop uses a steel nib so you're saving a little over $50 which isn't a bad deal. I will caution you that massdrop can take quite a long time to ship. I purchased some Pilot Metropolitan pens from them and waited about a month for delivery. I think this was an especially long wait but it certainly isn't the fastest outlet.

This is an excellent deal on Massdrop and they want only USD3.8 to ship to India.

I'm in on to this drop though I haven't sent in payment yet.

I'm also still waiting for my Lamy 2000, which I bought when it was in Massdrop earlier. It was posted on the 10th October 2014.

They're also asking for only US3.80 to ship the Stalwart to Malaysia. Very good price I'd say.

And nope, Customs will NOT spoil it for me as the Jabatan Kastam Diraja Malaysia (The Royal Malaysian Customs Department) is only interested in a 30% excise if you bring in BALLPOINTS from abroad, but NOT FOUNTAIN PENS as FPs are not subject to taxes here :D

  • 6 months later...

I've bought from MD about 5 times. There's nearly always something that delays shipment at least once if not twice with some excuse. I've waited over 2 months to receive a MD order. It's OK for things that you really don't care when they arrive, but want to save a few bucks on - like a bunch of Pilot Metros, etc.. By the time MD finally gets around to shipping me something, I've usually forgotten that I'd ordered it. I noticed an email notification today saying I'd a UPS package delivered. Turned out to be a batch of Clairefontaine 1951 notebooks I ordered from MD over a month ago.

I see that MD is offering the Stalwart again this month, but I recommend you order from Todd at isellpens.com. He's an individual business owner with real live customer service. You'll have your pen at a good price and so fast it'll make your head spin.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
