My apologies...I did not mean to discourage reviews!

Currently this ink is available only at Dromgoole's and I believe he's sold out because I called and asked about buying bottles for Christmas presents. I don't think Larry is going to carry this as a Dromgoole exclusive like he did for the Texas Blue Bonnet which is now a regular Noodler's line up or last years Dallas Pen Show ink, Blue Steel, which is my EDC ink.

The ink is a little on the strange side.

My goodness! I didn't mean to imply that more reviews were discouraged. Poor wording on my part. I just like to read various people's reviews because each person has unique likes and dislikes re. inks.

I have General of the Armies and like it.

I wonder if Nathan Tardif made this ink in response to a poster who not too long ago said he/she wished for an ink that changed colors. He does seem to take note of such comments.

Thanks for the review link! I don't visit the reviews as much anymore. I should catch up on what's happening with those super secret inks you were testing...

Well, I think we all love reviews, and we can't spend as much time on here as we like. :)

Wide release of Noodler's General of the Armies was announced by the distributor, Luxury Brands USA, early this week. Your favorite retailer should have it in stock soon.

  • 2 weeks later...

Yeah. Starts Army, ends Air Force. Have to get that one. I work right outside a humongous air base where they have Army deployed (I forget why but they are there) as well as Air Force of course. The C5's fly over my office all day long and you can hear them start up and whine before take off. They are so cool, we all enjoy it. (Not as disruptive a noise as a fighter jet, I can't explain it.)

Well, I need more ink like a hole in the head, (actually I have three or five of those already) but I'm very tempted by this ink. I only have one Noodlers anyway (apache sunset.)

  • 4 months later...

I just spilled root-beer over several pages of general of the armies inked pages....and I can report there is no apparent bleeding of the ink- at leas to my (somewhat dim) eye.

Impervious to root-beer , in case anyone wants to know. Good ink.

That's a test I can say never occurred to me. But given my love of freezing cold A&W, probably a vital one :puddle:

I'm one who liked this ink from the beginning, but must say I like it better and better. Somehow, it looks "soft" on the page rather than "harsh" or "aggressive." Don't know if that makes sense?

I know there are a couple main topics on this ink. I just got it and most papers I put it on, it's bright green and fades to a dark teal - so far. I've yet to experience the true blue most others show.

I did notice, if you smear the ink right away, it's mostly blue. Also, I rubbed one word with my finger with water and the green almost instantly goes away and you can visibly tell the difference between the green and blue parts. It seems to rub away to blue on the less saturated areas, where the ink pooled it stays more green.

Sorry for no pictures, I was just messing around at work with it - the phone camera wouldn't begin to capture the nuances. Also, the change with water was more noticeable on cheapy (as in very cheap and recycled) notepad paper vs. one of my notebooks with better paper in it.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
