Inti - L'artisan Pastellier

L'Artisan Pastellier is french ink / calligraphy materials producers. They offer two lines of inks suitable for fountain pens: CALLIFOLIO (inks made for fountain pens, neutral PH and so on) andENCRES CLASSIQUES (not all of them may have perfect properties however I've tried most of them and had no issues in my fountain pens).

L'Artisan Pastellier inks don't get much love or attention here. I understand this as they're not easily obtainable. You may buy them directly from the producer's on-line/stationery boutique. The best thing to do is to organize group buy (I've done it twice last year for polish sountain pen board). It's nice thing to do - you get to meet a lot of people to exchange inks and the shipment cost becomes really friendly.

I must admit I'm huge fan of Callifolio series. They have cool names and some trully unique colors. They're nor super-saturated but I like them this way.

Soon I'll prepare comparison of all 34 colors but it'll take time. Maybe November?

I'll make reviews of some of them.

Inti is my favourite ink. Period.

I love everything about it.

So yes - this ink would be the one I would take to desert island.

I have this one waiting for me to sample....The color appears to be something special.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Some of us have mentioned this line of inks in the past. They are an overlooked brand.

Really wonderful review and exposure to this luscious color. I agree it is one of many of theirs that I love.

With the new FPN rules, now I REALLY don't know what to put in my signature.

Okay, I was a bad inkster, I hadn't sampled this one until today, but I'm writing with it as I type .... I type a few letters and then write some more. :P

Re-review

Inti used to be my favorite ink. It was before I got to know Sailor inks better, Such an experience changes a lot.

Still, I think that Inti is worth attention, especially if you use wet nibs. For example in wet medium nib of Omas Paragon it displays awesome shading and looks very well. Depending on the pen and paper combination you use the final effect may vary. In driest pest you'll feel the ink lacks lubrication, in wetter ones the flow will be smooth and consistent.

I haven't experiences any kind of misbehavior with this ink - no bleedthrough or feathering, even on papers where most other inks tend to feather. No hard starts, no clogging. This inks are perfectly safe for vintage pens that use sacks.

The ink tends to grow darker if you leave the pen uncapped for a while, but it'll start even after 2-3 minutes of pause and that's something I appreciate in inks performance.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
