Hello everyone, and greetings from Portland, OR!  I've been following the Goulets for a while, and since my fp collection has grown, I thought I'd join here to see if I could learn more.  I got into fp'ing through a mentor who bought me one on a whim after teaching me the guitar.  Since then I've expanded my interest to 6 pens, waxes, seals, and some beautiful inks.  Currently my daily carry is a TWSBI Mini Clear Demonstrator inked up with Private Reserve's Electric DC Blue.  Other pens in my collection:

- Monteverde Invincia Deluxe in Rose Gold/Carbon Fiber

- Jean Pierre Lepin Indigo in green/red swirls (sort of like a twsbi mini, just smaller!)

- Waterman Phileas in blue and black resin

- Lamy Safari Charcoal

- Faber-Castell Loom (my wife's pen)

Looking forward to learning much from this community of writers and pen lovers.  Have a great day, everyone!

Welcome !

Guard the TWSBI silicon lube .  It is great stuff.  No other pen lube works better.

Great city you live in.

"Are we at last brought to such humiliating and debasing degradation that we cannot be trusted with arms for our defense? Where is the difference between having our arms in possession and under our direction, and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal safety to us, as in our own hands?" Patrick Henry

Hello and welcome. I'm glad you joined us. You have well begun for certain. However, I am sorrily vexed that among the wonderful list of pens, you did not list an Esterbrook J. How can this be? Still, it must be admitted that you are new to fountain pens and are not fully aware of the pleasures of using a fountain pen such as an Esterbrook. No, not an expensive fountain pen made of the fantastic materials some pen companies boast about, but rather a fountain pen made for the common man or woman and meant to be a daily workhorse and last for a mere century or two. You should really consider acquiring an Esterbrook J. Many can be had fully restored and ready to write for a mere $30 to $50. I'm sure you do not want the whole fountain pen world to always look upon you as an uninitiated novice. The Esterbrook J is the fountain pen by which all other fountain pens are judged (this is a secret, don't tell anyone I am the one who told you).

Please don't hesitate to share your questions and opinions. I hope you enjoy your time with us.
