Dear FPN Friends,

 

I today received the Following De Atramentis document inks.

 

Red, Yellow Cyan Magenta, Black

 

I already own Green brown, blue and dark blue and the thinning agent for Document inks....

 

Wiht these CMYK colours I should be able to mix any colour and wiht the mix any shade of those colours....

 

Unfortunately I am sort of a sillt t..t :D I do not understand anythink about mixing wiht CMYK.... Looked it up inthe internet but that did not help me...

 

Can anyone of you give advise here....

 

Like a colourchart and how to mix these colurs to create secondary tertiary and quartery colour...

 

Like Brown, Green Orange.... But also like the variations like

 

Purple>>> Violet

Brown>>> Sepia Saddle Brown etc etc...

 

How can a thinning agent help here....

 

Please help out a nitwit

Question I saw a colour chart there...

 

I guess I first have to mix two colour like Blue and yellow and mix from there to get other colour like.

 

 

Yellow and Magenta/red = Orange + Ink X = Next colour..

 

Hw about brown or sepia

I had the same idea but de atramentis doesnt make a document yellow. What water resistant yellow can be substituted?

 

It does make a yellow document ink... I have bottle here...

It is not on the ebsite yet but will be soon

PERFECT!!!!! The holy grail of mixing inks--- a permanent yellow!!!! I will definitely be on the look out for it! Thanks!

If you want to learn more about mixing colors in general, especially if you want to make custom colors instead of using pre-existing mix ratios, I suggest doing some research on color theory. Especially mixing complementary colors.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..
