Be sure to read this thread first for "the rules". Anyone can join in and no prior INKsperience is necessary.

Other test inks include:

Blue Batch C = Blue Cashmere
Blue Batch C version 2 = Too Blue Cashmere

Black Batch D = Black Diamond

Green

Another nice blue, with shading. Jumps right off the paper, and I like that :D

Edit: Hmm, it looks darker on the real paper than it does on the scans.

Dang, you are correct. Hmm..... it must have been the touch of green.

General observations of Blue Diamond Ball / Blue Ball Diamond / Whatever we've settled on for this blend:
Well behaved

Easy to clean up

A little light, color-wise

Excellent flow

I think this color would appeal to the same people that like pink ink, or grassy green inks. It's not for me, but I can appreciate the color (in someone else's notebook).

Don't believe everything you think.

I can't speak for the other reviewers, but on mine, the result was clearer and more distinct on the original than it appears to be on the scans. In other words, the originals look better than the scans.

I'm going to have to get my hands of all of these Susemai inks. This is the first I'm hearing of them, and I think I'm a fan.

They are a test ink.

Contact Sinistral1, I may have a sample or two of a couple of the inks left.

Same for me. Some of the scans are practically illegible, but I can read all of them just fine when I'm holding the paper.

When I'm finished with the testing (only a couple inks to go), I'm going to snail-mail all my originals to Amber. That will, hopefully, take and scanner oddities out of the equation.

Blue Diamond Balls at 8%

It's actually darker than this in person, but still too light for me to consider a viable ink for daily use. It also seemed very dry at 8%.

This is an ink splatter from cleaning my pen, and it's actually the first time I've liked this color.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
