Newton Pens

320 USD - (3% paypal fee) = Appox 310.4 USD

[(10t) - (0.03t) + (0.03p)] - (10f) = Money raised

t = total people.

p = people that used friends pay

f = free pay people/write in

I just made a simple thing confusing.

Calculating the odds: 1/t so it's 1/32 = 3.125%

t= total people

Well, not all participants only bought one entry. Some of us may have purchased more than one...

Some people say they march to a different drummer. Me? I hear bagpipes.

Sorry I didn't reply earlier. Yes - if you buy at any time you get cards. If you ask you will get the new cards, otherwise I'm sending them out sort of at random. I'll pick from the old or new depending on where my hand goes. :)

And..

drum roll....

#9 gets it! Nine is the winner of a free custom pen! I don't have the list of names in front of me so I have no idea who it is, but congratulations to number nine! :)

And thanks so much to everybody who contributed to the fund - it's now over $2000 - exact numbers later.

There's still lots of time between now and May to raise more money for the kids.

Thanks!

Shawn

Shawn, I let this get away from me and forgot to order on time. I want the new set of cards, though. Can I still send the $10 and get the cards without the raffle?

  • 2 weeks later...

I'll start it up next weekend. :)

I want some of your newer post cards.

Just a question are they all the same artist? As some of the images seems to have a similar style of coloring.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
