Montblanc Midnight Blue Sample - Australia

FoszFay

Recommended Posts

Hi again.

I recently posted about what blue black I should buy. After a few people replied I have decided on Montblanc Midnight Blue.

If anyone in Australia, preferably NSW, has any and is willing to send me a sample it would be much appreciated, as the cheapest I could find it for was $35 posted, which is quite expensive, and I don't want to risk having a bottle of ink sitting around not getting used.

Thanks.

I'm happy to send you a sample. I'm out of the country until the weekend 13th Sept so can send it then if you're happy to wait?

Thanks. That would be great. The only place I found to hold it is PenCity, but $35 plus shipping is pretty steep, especially seeing I don't really know the colour.

When you get back in Australia, just let me know and if I held off buy any ink I'll PM you.

Also, is your ink the newer non iron-gall or older iron-gall?

Thanks again!

The pen shop I frequent stocks Montblanc Premium Colours Bottled Ink. The online store shows that they sell Midnight Blue.

Perhaps you could visit the shop and see if they'll let you sample the ink. ??

I've always had great friendly service. Most of my visits consist of trying pens out, asking questions and not actually buying anything. I'm hoping they'll be just as friendly and accommodating with you and let you sample some ink. I was just there last night and even when they had closed up shop, they were willing to answer my questions about ink!

The shop is called Pen-Ultimate and I frequent the QVB shop. They also have a shop in North Sydney and Chifley Plaza.

All the best!

If you can find the old iron-gall formula, it is worth having in my opinion. It is my favourite ink out there (alongside R&K Scabiosa) and I love the intense colour it lays down. When I found out they were changing the formula to remove the iron gall content, I stocked up with 4 bottles ;)

Happy to send you a sample if you wish to try this out too. I bought mine from two places - Melbourne Pen Depot (in Chadstone Shopping Centre - great place for inks btw!) which is cheaper than Pen City by about $5 ($30) and whilst I was holidaying in Malaysia I went to a Montblanc boutique and they had several bottles of the old formula for sale for US$19 per bottle!!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
