Ink Recommendatoin For Danitrio Hakkaku Tame-Nuri

I just picked up a Danitrio Hakkaku Tame-nuri (Octagon with the ren urushi) that has a stub nib. I have not inked it yet and I am looking for recommendations for a suitable ink. I'd like something with a vibrant color but that is safe for the pen. I am not a fan of black or standard blue colors.

 

I have some of the Montblanc Leonardo chalk ink that I was thinking of using. Another option is a Visconti bordeaux.

Beautiful pen.

I believe Danitrio uses a standard international converter, thus can use any bottled ink.

Colour-vise, your Visconti bordeaux would make a good match.

Red or green ink. I have Diamine Delamere Green in my Danitrio. There's something about that wet green line that I find soothing. Or Diamine Red Dragon, one of my favorite reds.

You will love the chalk - the Bordeaux is a better match, but that Red Chalk is stunning.

Diamine Syrah also springs to mind as matching the shaping of your pen. If you like matching. :)

Ah yes. I forgot I have a bottle of that in my desk drawer at work from years ago. I used to use it exclusively in my MB Kafka for years. Thanks for the reminder!

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
