Okay folks a quick and dirty poll.

For those that have several and use often, or other such variations, please read the question as meaning 'at least one'.

Poll will run for one week.

Hey, you managed your first second poll... And at first I thought wrong forum, but of course you also want to reach the non-Parker aficionados...

I have tried one twice, once in a shop, once on a penshow, and did not like it in the hand. Besides I find it ugly (YMMV)

Bought a nice P45 with a stub nib instead that time in the shop.

I keep a black and gold 51 filled with black ink on hand for the boring stuff in life. Sometimes I just don't want to use something that screams flash or expense, and it's timeless. It's hard to believe it was developed in the 1930s.

You forgot the "I haven't tried the pen and don't want to" option.

It was a deliberate omission as it is irrelevant to my purpose in posing the poll.

My user is a gold and burgundy. For looks, it's better with the cap on than off. My choice for non-flashy, reliable, comfortable routine use.

I use my brown Aero daily, it's always full of a red ink (today it's Noodler's Nikita) that I use for marking up drawings. I use it enough to need to refill about once every two weeks, perhaps a little more frequently.

I was given one in 1958 as a high school graduation present and now have several. My favorite is a mustard colored 51 with an OM nib. No doubt about it, the 51 is a wonderful pen, durable and always classy.

I have five 51s, a 51 Special, a couple of Super 21s and, just for good measure, a Hero 616.

Despite that, I've never fallen in love with them, and I don't use them often. I get far more use out of my Sheaffer Snorkels, Imperials and Targas.

I don't use the one I have. It isdifficult to see the nib while writing and I have the tendency to rotate the barrel slightly sometimes and then I have to lean over and look at the nib to get it back on the sweet spot. The pen takes a long time to fill and takes forever to flush if I want to change ink colors. Forget this one; it is a solution looking for a problem.

I have lost count on how many P51's that I have at this time. Need to inventory them and all the other Vac's that I have.

That reminds me to write a post on that subject.

didn't have choice: I own several and seldom use any of them.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
