I agree. IT's okay, but I never thought of it as worth the excitement, personally. So far, the breakaway hit for me is the Water Turquoise. <3 Thought the Takeru Olive is also beautiful, and Haruna green is quite fetching (though not my general colour scheme I prefer).

I really like Purple Heart. It's a rich, elegant, almost smokey purple, & the shading is wonderful.

I agree about Haruna Green; it's another of those amazing colour-shifting Sailor inks, changing as it dries,

I wouldn't call it rich, but that's just my opinion. It needs a Japanese F nib to show that awesome colour which you speak of, and that's okay with me because I prefer those over anything else. For me, a rich ink would be which shines even with broader nibs and doesn't look unsaturated.

That is exactly the colour blue that I always fall in love with. Thanks for posting that! I'm definitely getting two bottles right now. :D

I've placed an order today.

As I get, I'll post the color sample.

I check the website color sample, maybe just like KOBE #42 ?

Earth ocean looks very attractive. I decided to take a chance on Neptune Light, so I guess I will (probably) pass on this one. This irregular pattern of releases can be frustrating.

Yep, it is. One of the few Joyful-2 inks I bought several bottles of.

Ikaho magenta looks great, don't have this one though.

I passed on Neptune, so I'm curious about what it's like. Please post a sample when you get it!

It is.

I have Ikaho Magenta. It's very nice, but is outshone by SankoDo Tokugawa en-botan. Tokugawa is brighter, more complex, shades better and the sheen is truly so much better than Ikaho.

Facinating. What paper are you using? The paper I lasted used it on produced a far richer burnt sienna hue than what is shown in your sample.

I love the way various paper weights and brands can turn a single ink into several different colors.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
