Aegean Blue at upper left, Kobe #26 Wadamisaki Blue at upper right, which answered my first question about this ink: it shades bluer than #26.

;-)

And now I'd be interested to see where it falls compared to Kobe #17 Shioya Blue.

Exactly what I thought about when I saw the sample. They might be so similar that Kobe avoids showing them side by side LOL.

The blog post actually describes the ink as a cross between 17 and 26. :)

Pen and Message inks are also back in stock, including the much sought after Cigar. In fact, as of the writing of this post, the only ink out of stock since when I saw this morning is Vintage Denim

Keep in mind that it's one bottle per color per person and that after using a credit or debit card for purchase, it can not be used again in their shop.

This is the length they must resort to to keep ink speculators at bay.

Mercy.

Maybe Nagasawa Kobe should stop and be satisfied with the colors they have. :cP

At some point, you've gotta run out of shades, right? I'm trying to gain a little perspective - if an ink wouldn't grab my attention 1) if it weren't a Sailor and 2) if it weren't limited, then why am I buying it? So, no Aegean for me (I did, however, just order a bottle of Old Burgundy...)

I like White Rabbit Express -- I've used both their forwarding and buying services. I can recommend WRE without reservation.

Darn it. I had promised myself not to sign up for a forwarding service, and I had kept that impulse at bay for a long time, assuming that such restraint meant I was not totally ink mad. But you put that link right there ready to click, and, well, you are right. Incredibly customer-friendly. But you definitely get an enabler star today!

Ha. I'll report back. Sometimes when you have an ink or two on the slow boat it takes so long that you almost forget, and then it's such a nice surprise.

I already have 22 blues from sailor, I am not going to buy any more blue inks when it is my least used colour. :|

I decided to count my Sailor Blues... Blue is not my favorite color (Green, Red, Brown, Gold are my top choices)... I only have 10 Sailor Blues... I think I can add a new one.. ;)

I'll probably pass on Aegean Sea. The risk of liking it and then not being able to hoard more after production ends is just too high. I still have a bottle of Gogh Cobalt that I've been rationing, don't really want to go through that again

Just buy 3-4 right now?

For someone like me, who doesn't use blue inks, having 22 blue inks is just sad, because they'll never be used. Worse is that I have multiple bottles of some colours like vintage denim (3) and seiran (3 or 4).

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
